View Full Version : AArrrgh!! My server is lost.

Any1 running a ded linux server? I run two of them and they don't show up on ASE or the In-Game browser from time to time. When i start them up they show up after about 10 mins, then they stay there in a couple of hours and then they are gone again. Now they stay gone. Why is this happening...i really don't get whats wrong with it....ghaaa!

Ohh. Just remebered. Any1 with a linux server gotten the iO mod working? Can't seem to get that to work either

Some of the things I don't have in my config are:

set sv_gamespy "1"

set sv_master1 "codmaster.activision.com"
set sv_master2 ""
set sv_master3 ""

Try it without these since it should automagically send a heartbeat to codmaster.activision.com anyhoo. Remember that the linux dedicated was recalled/removed due to bugs that caused people to shoot about 200 feet in the air if you jumped on them.

as it turns out, my firewall blocked out codmaster. Fixed that so it shows now. However...my second server wont show up so i'll try to remove those lines.

and yes i know it has bugs, but linux pwns win32 so i cant wait :!:

Whats missing here and why isnt the killcam mod working..i mean for the specc part?

Can you join your server if your know the ip address? If your host name isn't setup correctly on linux it seems to bind only to localhost. Other than that make sure codmaster.activision.com and codauthorize.activision.com resolve correctly and aren't being blocked by a firewall.

I'm seeing a lot of errors in there regarding what IP address the server is attempting to use.

127.0.0.1 as you're probably aware is localhost, so if the server is communicating with activision, activision's servers are likely to be ignoring it if it's reporting the IP to connect to as 127.0.0.1

I'm sure there's a cvar or command to set the ip address to bind to.

That's the bit I would be concentrating on.

hmmm. interesting, never thought about the locla ip. Duh! =)

However, the port error is part of the linuxserver bugg. If i set the port to 1 it becomes 2, if i set it to 3000 it becomes 3001. Everyone gets that so i dont think thats the prob, but the local stuff can be it. Gonna try it now.

I finally got 1 of the servers to show up in ASE without probs..but my otherone wont show at all...I use port 28960 for server 1 and 28965 for server 2. Only server 2 shows up. Can it be that the port are in some kind of conflict?

Geez...I'm about to give up.

I don't know whats wrong with this thing.

So, now i've tried two things.

Regular setup with cd-key enabled. The server showed up in GameSpy and the ingame browser, but not ASE. So i tried "cracking" the server. Now it shows up in ASE but not in the ingamebrowser or GameSpy...It's really weird. I can se why they don't show up in the other browsers, but why do they show up in ASE ONLY when it's cracked?? o_O

Edit: Btw, I don't support cracking the servers. Just wanted to see if anything was different
