I have to say when the game first came out I was real excited to have a replacement for MOHAA. Don't get me wrong, I love MOHAA, but the status, cheating, unable to ban, the prospect of Punkbuster being integrated, etc....
It didn't fan out. Granted this is new and has yet to have an update but the initial product reminds me to much of MOHAA.
I can't status the server once I have so many people in it.
I don't have any anticheat programs for it for all the $#%^*# cheaters out there.
You can lean thru walls, be shot thru walls if your against one and any part of you is sticking out.
No way to ban unless you have an external program which doesn't always work if you have a full server.
Same with high pingers as the above....
Not a vent just a realization.

You can ban by IP -
Crow King Auto-kick -takes care of high pingers -
The status thing sucks - hopefully they will fix it -
Running the server w/ sv_pure 1 will take care of many cheats (although not for MOD's you may want to run)
Personally - I think the game is being destroyed with all of the MOD's coming out.
I would wait for a patch, and most of these issues willl be resolved. I hope OSP or similar "League MOD" comes out. HL IMHO was ruined by all of the MOD's as was MOHAA.
I take a hard stance with most of the BS MOD's except for realism MOD's which IMHO makes the game more realistic and fun to play. Even a weapons limiter would be great to appropriate "X" number of weapons to each side.
I am not trying to piss on anyone's Cheerio's but, the game is new and I think everyone will be suprised by what the next patch will bring.

Autokick stops working once you have over a certain number of players in it.
As for the pure, that keeps about 80% (imho) of the players out of your server since they like to customize.
Ban? Doesn't work. Tried it...
Waiting for the next patch? Hmm now here's the part that gets me. They said they would try and get the linux server version out the day the games was released. Never happened. Having to use a "non-released" version of it now that has a memory leak and freezing up. When they actually release the linux server version is a mystery. As for the patch... we'll see when it comes out, hopefully they will incorporate PB in it !
Not disgruntal just perculating ! :|

I hope they include PB as well. As far as their promise for a Linux DS, they had one - it was just fuxxxored. I thought the new one was released? Maybe I read it will be soon?
Anyway - I hope the patch is a big patch and not just a band-aid ! :dis:

Guys we have to keep in mind when MOH:AA first came out it really didn't have much of a mod community, let alone scanners/security. CoD out of the box runs uncountabley better than AA did with v1.0. So with all great things it takes time. You can't expect any game in this day and age to be perfect, no matter how much they try. Lord knows the older games didn't run right. The future patches to the game will just make it that much better just be patient. I don't know this for a fact but I had heard PB wasn't part of the RTCW release either, but Activision did add it in eventually.
I applaud the modders, being one myself, and encourage them to continue with thier work. Mods bring variety, even in the begining of new games. There are plenty of servers out there to chose from...if you don't want base I am sure you can find it. I found playing the base AA and SH to be agonizing. If it wasn't for mods MOH would have died a long time ago. (Thats including all mods, not just realism.)
I can't wait to see the new maps being worked on out there too. :!:

Definitely modders rule the day not to mention the games.
I guess what I am getting at is the things that were the biggest issues in MOHAA are the same issue this game has but in MOHAA they were never fixed.
As a matter of fact EAGames pretty much said to hell with you guys... I'm going home. <as my favorite south park character says>

i think the key word duck used was VARIETY with out it the world would suck every ones car white, house cloths with out veriety not only would life be boring as all hell but games would be to why add multiple game types why ad multiple skins would be alot less work if every skin was the same so the point is some of us like q3 stile gaming some of us like to go bang your dead we call it realism
some would prefer this some would prefer it to be like that so we make um we add our touch to the game then to our servers and eventualy every ones game type will be available i for one have never liked the way a game played as shipped but waited for some one like sitting duck.. or one of many or crowking the maker of ultra realism for mohaa and spearhead and then i got sick of waiting on them so i got down and dirty and figured out how to mod a bit so i think the moral of this story is with out variety ..
THIS WORLD AND THE GAMES WOULD BE BORING AS HELL AMEN
