running a test dedicated on p3/800 768meg ram
24 players, maxrate 8000 with a 2 meg line up and down , though BF1942 is using 1.5 of that :-)
seems to be VERY smooth...some people experiencing long load times though on a map change

I've run it on two servers.

Server #1...

CPU: Dual 1Ghz PIII
RAM: 1GB
Network: 100Mbit U/D
24 clients @ 8000 maxping

Saw very good performance. Only added an addition 20-30% of CPU load. Could easily handle a number of poorly pinging players without any adverse effects to the rest of the players. This server is typical of what a normal, rentable clan server is like.

Unfortunately, I could never get rcon to work with this machine so I had to switch to another machine which is just a workstation class machine.

Server #2...

CPU: 1Ghz PIII
RAM: 512MB
Network: 100Mbit U/D
14 clients @ 8000 maxping

Performance is very good when all players are pinging well and CPU load is around 70-90%. It only takes a single player to connect with a 600+ ping to lag us badly, though. When that happens, CPU pegs at 100% until they are kicked.
