tryed to have a dedicated server going for a while and it starts uip fine
but after a little time when i get some players in to it the cpu load go all the way up to 90-100% even with 12-14 players.

I have had the same dedicated machine for mohaa and have about 30-40% cpu with 16-18 players.. (P3 700mhz 512 mb ram, 10mbit cable)

what whould be a server spec. for spearhead 16-18 players ?
p4 2.0ghz, 512mb ram ?? :-)

ok its a demo but this serverload is whay to big to be real.

Is it only me who get this massive cpu load from this demo? cant se that anyone have written anything about this... What is the recomended specs for spearhead dedicated server for say 16-18 players?

Plz share your server load, is it different then the server i got ?

sounds interesting. we had a problem with 5-6 of us on team speak was looking for a server. we would jump in to all get kicked in about 5 minutes. could be related.

Until we see some real dedicated servers, we wont know. I hope they get this straightened out so they don't jack the price up

Our clan server is up and running Dedicated. It is a public server so go join and check it out. PS....CrowKing please hurry and update the autokick to work with spearhead...please.

Well SpearHead eats CPU alright....if this isn't fixed in the fullvers this game will die.......*sigh* EA huh...?

Nope. Note me anyway, my problem is mainly that the cpu is used to the max as soon as there is say 14 players in or so. not freezing up but hell what a ping players get when cpu works at 90% or so.....

Realy hope this is fixed in the real version.

Something sounds fishy to me. I ran a dedicated server with 5-6 people on and my utilization was 16-20%. I am running a P4 1.4ghz w/ 640MB RAM. Maybe you are pushing it for your specs, although you haven't mentioned them so I have no idea what you arte running.

Im running the SH demo on the same machine that I run MOHAA on and it appears to run the same. We had up to 12 players on last nite and it ran fine. PIII 500mhz with 512mb ram, T1 connection. I havent checked cpu usage since I am nowhere near the server when we are running it.
I think alot of people are trying to run this game on insufficient bandwidth (cable/dsl connections)and its freezin up.

The issue of the game freezing seeems to be alot of servers, i have gone into many other servers and when i get in i cant join or do anything but leave. My server is a p2.4 with 1 gig of ddr mem and a T1 connection, so i dont believe it is a computter issue. I think there is a bug in the game from everthing else ive read that peeps are posting.

Firstly the freeze problem on the demo servers is a bug which is addressed with the demo patch. "The error can be made to happen by getting on a Mortar and then disconnecting from the server. It leaves the server in limbo" to quote EA This bug is not in the full version (but the jump when someone connects is back!) As for cpu load..... I have noticed the load is greater on SH than AA I only hope they DO sort this out with the next patch As this would limit the number of home servers (like mine - 1200mhz athlon 512meg 1meg cable) which can run something like smooth Remember home servers are the backbone of any successful multiplayer game (limited servers to play on means limited players full stop!) and they often provide more enjoyment :D (try playing a full 32 client server for a while to see wot I mean ... spawn bang dead spawn bang dead) or am I talking out my bum?
