Changing game type without shutting down server

Hi all, I'm pretty new to the server side of things and have a question.
Is it possible to go from for example team match play to objective play without shutting down and restarting the server? I've tried the rcon exec command and the gametype command and console says will change gametype after restart. I've been on other servers where gametype changes have occured without shutting down...is this a stock feature or do i need a mod to do this?

i use the g_gametype command, its seems to be the easiest. some people will execute a different .cfg to start up a new gametype.
when you get the message saying that the gametype will change after restart just select the next map you want. in my case im always switching from tdm to obj so i would type...

g_gametype 4
map obj/obj_team 1

works for us simple folk! ;)

The way i do it, is i have several different .cfg files in my main directory. server.cfg, ffaserver.cfg, tdmserver.cfg ...ect. Each one is for a diferent gametype, or has different map rotation. lets say i am running in ffa mode, i want to switch to obj, i just open the console and type
"rcon exec objserver.cfg" and it changes gametype and switches the map for me. If you dont understand, or need any help with it, feel free to send me an e-mail, and ill talk ya thru it. theplagueofdeath@tisd.net

I think i understand what your saying.....rather than have gametype and starting map in my .exe command line, i put this in my .cfg files and it will change gametype and the map for me rather than have to do it by commands in console...just the one exec command. Thanks both of you...i'm off to try it. :P

if your on a map and want to change gametype, just type g_gametype #
then restart the map, thats what i do and its the fastest way ithink

Hi the far most easiest way to change game type or a map is using DWM SERVER SCANNER.

You can change maps and game btypes at a click also rcon say and kick, dumpuser with one click.
