Auto download

Hey guys is there a file or something out there that will enable auto download automatically for anybody that comes into my server. I can have all kinds of messages telling people to turn it on but they don't, so when a custom map comes up they get kicked. Any ideas, Thanks for the help.

Not possible and for good reasons,it would leave every player vulnerable to hacks,virus's etc.
Best thing to do is run stock or server side mods until you get enough regulars coming in,then announce any custom maps/mods prior to putting them on,if you run a pretty good server they will download them.

or you can add MustAllowDownloads in your server name, however it seems that even though we have this in our name that their are always stupid ppl who dont allow the downloads and get kicked on the map rotation.

stupid?i myself don't allow downloads because stupid people like putting stupid things in your computer.

unless i am familiar with the server it stays off,but of course i am one of those people who really hate having to reformat because some idiot thought it might be fun to throw a hack or virus on my computer.

also keep in mind that if one server makes you download one file the next server may kick you for it.

Well for one you dont comprehend very well :P . I didnt say ppl who dont allow downloads are stupid, I said add MustAllowDownloads to your server name so ppl will know you are running custom maps, but even doing that plp are stupid in connecting to our server with "MUSTALLOWDOWNLOADS in our server name and get kicked when our server loads a custom map.

BTW have you ever gotten a virus from joining CoD servers or had a hack downloaded to your system? Just wondering because I have been allowing downloads for over a year now without any problems what so ever

Timber, Why not just let them be kicked? I posted a little further down about the issue of servers turning on my downloads and loading all there crap. It is my configuration and should be my choise to allow downloads. I joined a server (that advertised nothing) just to play Dawnville and POW I had mods, maps and such already started to download by the time I hit Esc. Went back to my multi options and allow downloads had yes instaed of no. I run a server and would no way invade a persons game in such a manner. What is the harm with the person just being kicked or denied for not having the files? And you did say people who dont allow downloads are stupid. Just My 2 Cents, Butch

Nope, did not. I said ppl that join a server that has allow downloads in the name are stupid cause they get kicked. Please re read and think about sentence and then re read again :P


Edit besides why not allow downloads? you get some kick ass maps, weapon mods and other things you may not have known even existed. But to each their own.

I do find it hard to beleive the story you are trying to tell us about a mod/script that changes your options just from joining a server. If such a thing does exist please let me know where to get it!!!

Hey guys sorry I didn't respond sooner was out of town. Sorry for opening a can of worms here. I have a new server and I really like all the customs maps out there, and by offering some cool maps and mods I thought I can get more people to come and come back. Never thought of the repercussions opening your computer to auto downloads. I'll just stick with the stock ones till I can build up the server. Thanks again, sorry for any problem I may have caused

Which of course means you are not forcing people to download hacks or virus's,but i am sure there are a lot of people out there that would.
Has it ever happened to me? no,but the truth is that if someone wants to take advantage of it they will,my choice to turn downloads off is just that,my choice,i am just not going to take the chance.

as far as forcing peoples downloads on,i saw it on another site,if i run across the post again i will post the link.
