hi guys i was just wondering if you could spectate in 3rd person view without being able to roam all over the map(Sorta like how moh's force team spectate is) i sorta liked watching it more in that perspective, and made it a little easier to see if someone is cheating. anyone know if you can? thanks.

To be honest, allowing that 3rd person spectate view can cause problems in clan matches.

Example: The clan member still alive would crouch under a window while his dead teammate would direct him on how to move the mouse so that he could see outside the window and direct the live clan member on what was going on and on what to do.

Not having this 3rd. person view eliminates that unfair advantage.

To answer your question, there isn't a way to do it out-of-the-box but I'm sure it is possible with a mod. But I agree with Busterking, it'd probably never be allowed in matches for the reason he described. Actually, I like it better being a first-person spectate because contrary to what you said, jjbean, I think you're more likely to spot someone cheating seeing exactly what they're seeing.

on the contrary, like busterking said. . . it opens up the field of view. . which gives you alittle more to see, therefore that should let you know if the guy is seeing what he is supposed to or not. for example the all the different cheatskins in moh that lets you see people through walls and what not.

anyway i dont usually use my server for many matches, just a few scrimmages here and there. I just find it more fun to watch people play in that view, and figured it would be cool. But thanks anyway guys!

You can also bind a key to switch to 3rd person

// Third Person
bind j "toggle cg_thirdperson"
bind k "toggle cg_thirdpersonangle 45 90 135 180 225 270 315 0"

I use this alot when it comes to spectating on a SD or RE server.
