I'm running 2000 server on our COD server. The rust of my friends have XP. I want to be able to access and control the server from anywhere. Does anyone know a good program, or if there is anyway to set this up. Thanks in advance!

I've got it. It is a sweet little, free, secure, program. If all you want to do is to access files and run applications, this is it. It will not allow file transfer, unless you buy the pro version. This allows us to run any game on our server, from anywhere!! Check it out.

Access and control what parts of the server? The game only? Or, the entire server, OS and all? For just the former, you'll need rcon access, therefore "set rconpassword 'yourpassword'" in your config, and, if you're running PB, and want to administer remotely, "pb_sv_httpPort 8080" as well. See Anex's RCON Guide in the Guides section of this site for more information.
If you're talking about controlling all facets of the server remotely, then, you have a couple of options: remote control and the built-in Terminal Services in Windows 2000 Server. For remote control you can use something like VNC or pcAnywhere. Both of these will give you access to the "running console" of the server. You would also have file-transfer capability. The built-in TS in Win2K Server will work for limited stuff...you won't see the actual console running, nor will you have consistent file-transfer ability (those features are available only in Win2K3 Server), but, you can restart, install stuff (provided you have a way to get stuff there, like FTP), and with the addition of a utility like FireDaemon, you can ensure that, after doing a restart, CoD come back up automatically, even if you can't see it's console. Depending upon how you're set up, you would have to open ports for inbound access through a firewall for all of this, except rcon, which uses the (already open) 28960 port. VNC is a freebee, grab it here: http://www.realvnc.com/download.html. pcAnywhere is somewhat expensive for a single app like this, but, it's your choice, and, personally, I think its overrated. Terminal Services is also a freebee, it comes with the Server...but, you have to install it, in "remote administration" mode (add/remove, Windows Components), but its multi-session...2 remotes can connect at the same time. VNC and pcAnywhere are remote CONTROL...only 1 at a time. There's a somewhat buggy Microsoft add-on that allows drive mappings (therefore file transfers), located here: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;272519. I never got it to work consistently, but you're welcome to try...others say iit works ok...whatever. The big issue for me would be actual access to the game "console", and you won't see that in Terminal Services in Win2K Server. If you want to spend the bucks, or have it available already, go to Win2K3 Server, and all will be fixed: access to the actual console, drive mapping, file transfer, etc. But, this is a big expenditure unles you already have a copy.

Ya, forgot...the ports you'd need open are: VNC - 5900, Terminal Services - 3389, pcAnywhere - 5631 & 5632. VNC and PCAW can be anything you want, it's a config thing. Terminal Services is fixed (although I think there's a reghack, but don't go there). PB is whatever port you put in the command I mentioned, and, of course, rcon is whatever port your server is already listening on (usually 28960).
