Hi guys,

I have recently started getting this error. It all started when we had trouble with a few other players on our server. They where causing all sorts of trouble. We PB guid banned them. no more than 5 minutes after server crashed this was in console(dont know if this is related but I thought I'd mention it). We Rebooted server and after 5 minutes of play same thing. We tried again this time 14 minutes of play.

Any clues guys

Thanks

This is just the error part of the console

Windows servers are vulnerable as well, and there's *still* no official patch for that OS.

No its,

Windows Server 2003,

this guys keeps on doing it when he comes online.

There has to be a fix somewhere for it.

Even if its unofficial.

Thanks

If you know the IP, note the specific times that it occurs. Determine who the ISP is and write to them. I have successfully had an individual's internet service revoked by their ISP. In all likelyhood he is in violation of his terms of service.

Be professional, courteous and non-threatening when corresponding with the ISP. Your chances of getting results are greater. They may do nothing. They may only send a letter to the subscriber, but that may be enough.

Though it more than likely won't do any good, you might consider writing to EvenBalance and provide them with the GUID, IP, etc of the person in question.

Make a post in The Cheat Police and PunksBusted forums. There may be admins that would like to add this guy to their list as well.
We were lucky that we had ServerWatch running at the times we had a problem. Everytime the server went down, the screen showing who was on-line, their IP, etc stayed on. It was a simple matter to determine who was playing each time the server crashed. It also provided additional proof.

Good luck. And lets hope EA fixes this problem ASAP.

it looks to me that it is a buffer overflow of some sorts.

This was fixed by the unoffical patch back in Sept. as was reported here in the codadmin front page news, http://www.codadmin.com/nuke/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=560

I must have missed it,

I should pay more attention to the front page news

Just dont run it on a cracked server as this will open up an even bigger vulnerability to your machine that they are sure to know about.
