I'm trying to implement the PB rcon power list so that my clan members can perform limited rcon commands without having full rcon access. My problem is that when I enter the PB_SV_RCON commands, they don't get written to the pb/pbrcon.dat file. Well, actually the first one or two get written, then after that they stop getting written even though the console says they get written.
EXAMPLE:
1. First I delete the pbrcon.dat file (to start fresh).
2. Then I restart the pb server using the command "pb_sv_restart". It restarts fine.
3. Then I make the following 3 entries from the console and get these responses:
pb_sv_rcon 10 status
^3PunkBuster Server: Rcon Record Updated for status
pb_sv_rcon 20 map
^3PunkBuster Server: Rcon Record Updated for map
pb_sv_rcon 30 kick
^3PunkBuster Server: Rcon Record Updated for kick
4. After that the new pbrcon.dat file only has these 2 entries:
[11.15.2004 17:52:12] 10 status
[11.15.2004 17:52:16] 20 map
So why isn't it reliable? Sometimes there are no entries, sometimes one, etc. And I'm NOT low on disk space. LOL
I'm running SuSE Linux 8.2, Call of Duty 1.4. The pb_sv_ver utility reports:
^PunkBuster Server: PunkBuster Server (v1.106 | A1336 C1.117) Enabled
And "version" reports:
"version" is:"COD MP 1.4 build 650 Jul 25 2004 12:10:29 linux-i386^7"

Just add them manually
Could be related to PB processing lag time. Does this always happen?

Yeah it always happens. I thought the same thing--that maybe there was some kind of timer that flushed memory contents to the file every so often, but it never happens even after waiting. And it's not consistent.
Just add them manually.
Yup, think I will. Thanks.
I starting checking it myself and sure enough, only some of the commands were recorded...weird...

Thanks for the verification. Appreciate that.
I'll submit a problem report to PB.

I also had the same problem with mine i just added them manually. My problem is once i get them on there and assign the power points to a player the commands dont show in their console. I can see the server responf in the server console itself locally to the machine just not remotely for the trusted players. Dont know if anybody else has had this problem, but if you had fill me in

Thanks for the heads up about that. I haven't gotten that far yet, but I'll watch out for it when I test it.
btw, I did submit the original problem to Punkbuster support and they said they would look into it, but I haven't heard anything since:

I've got just the opposite problem. When a player issues the pb_rcon command, the commands show up on the screen for everyone to see, but the command is never executed.
