Bad news guys. The official word I received from Activision is the kill cam can not be disabled.

Please see the front page for the full article and leave comments their. I will be inviting Activision to view these. Hopefully they can see what the majority has to say.

Please spread the word to the other forums. Ask them to leave a link and their online name, not anonymous

Not being able to disable the kill-cam is a double edged sword. For MOH as we all know we can force "team spectate." In this particular situation its not possible but maybe there can be a comprimise.
A good option could very well be having a limited number of "reviews" allowed per player. Say in a 20+ minute map allow any given player to review 5 kills against him/her. This could help slow down the number of times a player goes to the review and as such they will think a little harder before going to a replay.

Another thought was to broadcast whenever a player goes to the "kill cam." We would then know when and who is checking your kill. This would also allow you to know they are aware of your exact location. Anyone abusing it could be handled by the admin. If they notice players constantly checking they could issue a warning.

Just a thought....

I hope they include the option to turn it off because I know that in DOD, most people hate the kill cam and all leagues turn it off. I heard in one of the videos that they would be releasing the multiplayer source code, so I guess it could then be turned off in there.

Duck, those are good thoughts but I think the amount of additional programming required to accomplish that would put further strain on the server.

Yes, in tactical play it could be a disadvantage but think about it. If your're killed you know (99.9%) of the time where the shot came from that killed you. If you're part of a modern clan you'll be on TS and that information will be conveyed your team mates.

The Kill cam serves two purposes actually. It will cause the killer to find a new location but on the other hand it should keep the level headed players from blindly running right back to where they got killed to be killed again.

I was just posting some thoughts about some changes or options we could have if they refuse to give the option to turn it off. True TS does give a huge advantage to any group using it.....and so it makes the use of the kill cam as an exploit not much of one.

I do for the most part know where the shot rang out from so its a waste of time for me. As for it forcing me to move....I enjoy people running back to get me, unless of course its a poorly defendable area. At this point moving pays off.

I guess I posted those ideas since it was said above that theres a chance the Dev team would read over whats said here.

Believe me I would prefer to not have it at all, a solid scanner constantly being updated is my choice above all.

I've read the good points and bad... but the one that sticks out the most is clan wars. If your having a match, your tactics are brodcast to the other team. This is a major problem if your clan wants to be able to play without the other team knowing what and how they are winning (or losing). Sadly, for matches this will need to be disabled.

What would be nice is being able to have the 7 second replay saved to the DED server for reveiw if there are complaints by anyone about cheating. Kind of like how a few of the MOH servers are doing now with the screenshot program (takes random screens and brodcasts that its being taken and what # it is).

Hopefully someone can mod it so that it makes a folder of every player that enters the server and saves the replays of them getting the kill for later review by admins. That way if there is a complaint, the person logging the complaint gives the suspects name and the admin can easily review the replays and find the replay of that kill by player name.

Of course I look at it the way I do with MOH. When I play sniper, most of the time every person I have sniped knows where I am anyways. Their job is to take me out before I take them out. The only drawback I see, is that this could be an exploit for those that don't want to take the time to actually find the sniper/MG/whatever, just look at the replay and know where they are.

To me, it seems an easy way for those that are too lazy to actually deploy workable tactics to take out their objective.

I guess my biggest concern with the Kill Cam- What kind of server strain is going to be put on the host machine constantly replaying 7 second video clips?

We rent our server, and you can bet your sweet ass that xgamers will find any way they can to justify a price increase for CoD over MOHAA, stating "increased CPU usage" as the reason.

[GF]©rëëþë® - Most hosting companies only give you limited space for mods and maps. If folders were created for every player ot even if the kill-cam shots were saved, on a busy server that free space would be used in no time.

Parrot - I wonder about that as well. Right now I would say that COD uses less resources than MOH does. That could drastically change though with the kill-cam working. :(

lol, gonna be great.

tactics? nice euphamism for sitting in the same place, game after game, round after round. no thanks. bring it on!!

CoD is really gonna shine. Many players and teams who thought they were good are soon going to find out quite differently.

True true, maybe it could be modded to save on the person who's playings computer, that way they can look at it and if it looks hoaky, they can forward it to an admin.

Just putting out suggestions for any of the modders out there that would need/want them.

Honestly, I'm not even worried about the kill cam, I don't spawn camp as sniper, and half the time I'm guarding an objective. If they can get back to the area I'm in and kill me, more power to them. But as someone stated before, "Looks like I'm going to be a mobile sniper". I just won't stay in the same place for long is all. 8-)

lol ... I'm the one who said "looks like i've got to be a mobile sniper" ... Well, take V2 for example, its a small map & only leaves the Axis outside spawn for sniping (usually, you dont go through the garage or vent room with a sniper lol). So that leaves you with little space to be mobile, you can camp & wait, or you could run around and eventually get shot by a sniper that is already camping on the other team. All that I am saying is that, maps better be bigger :P lol!

I'm all for large maps.

I will definetly be a "long range" sniper, find a place and look for the ones walking in the open.

Just read this in another forum:

"For those of you who are worried about Kill-Cam for hardcore league matches, we will add a server side switch to turn it off. This won't come out of the box, since the game is basically finished, but we will make a patch available for this the day the game ships.

Whoever said we don’t love our peeps? =)

Infinity Ward"

So no more worries, it will be optional

This just further goes to show that IW is nothing like EA. They seem to be listening to the consumers and making changes ASAP. One thing that I didn't see EA doing very often, if ever. Thanks IW, you guys are definetly proving how a game company should act toward its player base.

I think the kill cam shoul be retricted to ths erver admins to investigate cheat claims. At the moment we run screenshots of suspected cheaters, but you never get the whole picture. If we could take a kill cam from the player that would resolve the issues.

I really think allowing the everyday player to issue a kill cam would be pointless and would ruin the game. Hardly realistic if that is what the developers are trying to achieve with this game.

But as an Admin (anti-cheat) tool it would execllent.

I guess there is a certain risk the kill-cam will create wild-west-rodeo-style gameplay as people won't be able to hide and be tactical as they're used to. But, it can be switched off.....

Funny thing is, I sent an email off to Activision asking for confirmation about this "patch". I have been told they are still trying to follow up with IW. I would not hold my breath, on this so called patch to disable the kill cam.

If I do receive official confirmation, I will post that info ASAP

Personally I hate to assume anything that has not been officially confirmed. They where more worried about where this was posted then getting back to me.

Are you sure that IWnation.com is the official forum? They are listed as a fan site on Infinity Ward's site located here

Never mind I just seen their announcement in their news section.

"I am VERY proud and honored to announce that the IW Nation forums are now the OFFICIAL Infinity Ward Forums.

The IW Nation team has been working with Infinity Ward over the past few weeks to get all of the details worked out, and things seem to be going quite smoothly.

So, if any of your friends ask for an official Call of Duty or Infinity Ward forum, just link them here."

/me has a lot of hope in the Call of Duty team wanting to make a game which people will enjoy, as opposed to one which will make them lots of money. But I bet they want the money too of course ;)

Hearing about the Kill-Cam, I thought it was a bad move on their part, but now they will already release a patch, I have new-found faith.
