Rentcod.com is the only authorized "alpha" tester of the Linux binaries. If they just gave them to anyone, i don't think Activision would ask them to test for them again, so that's not likely.

Any ETA been established as to when it would be released?

Hmm, I see. I always thought normal CoD Admins made the Linux Dedicated Source Code and Activision licensed it. Oh well, I guess we have two options, keep waiting here or make our own code. Too bad I don't have the time to learn how Linux works (stupid homework).

Looks like Activision is trying to take over the linux server world. They did the same with Breakthrough medal of honor and Ryan said it was finished sitting on there desk yet I do not see any Breakthrough linux server binaries yet. This leads me to believe that Activision seen the majority of servers running out there for call of duty were running on a linux platforum. So what better way to grab the market then to keep the linux binaries and force people to rent from them.

Just my thoughts but same can happen with Pacific assualt soon to be released.

Ahh P.S they can sell or rent the alpha cod so seems to be working fine for them, imagine that.

Here's the deal on Linux

The linux binaries for Call of Duty: United Offensive are scheduled to wrap up testing tomorrow and it should be made available for downloading later tomorrow evening (likely around 6pm/PST West Coast time) through a variety of online sites. We'll try to list mirrors here as they are known.

Hey, that's good to know. And by the way I would NEVER rent a Linux server from those game server sites, to tell you the truth, they are RIP-OFFS (no offense to anyone). They just overcharge for the server, and they can just download the Linux code for free. That is why I got my own little nice Linux Dedicated server, sitting tight waiting for the code to become released. :!:

Hey that is great news. That would mean the Windows Servers won't be taking over much longer, muahahahaha!

I don't think their are charging your for the box as much as the pipe it sits on. Bandwidth is key.

also as posted on the front page. Ryan thinks it may (underline MAY) slip to wedensday

So how much bandwidth would a normal 20 player CoD:UO Server with no tanks take? I'm not sure the server I have have enough bandwidth. Eh.

And also how would we know when the Linux pack is out?

"coduo" in the filename should be a giveaway.

Okay thanks and, I was reading the "readme" file. Something about having the old CoD installed already. Is that really necessary because for me, it takes me 18 hours just to upload the files for the OLD CoD and an additional 20 hours to upload the files for CoD:UO. So I'm asking do I really need to install the old CoD first? Or is there a place for me to download the files directly? (My server's connection is much faster than mine).

Just copy the old cod dir to a new cod dir and upload the UO files

it seams 1.41c also dont work fine, same effekt like the old files:

i can play a view maps (2-3) than "connection interrupt" and cant connect to server, need kill the prozess an shell and restart it for the next 3 maps

effect is with pb and without !?!

lol, I thought I didn't need the old CoD files so I sorta, deleted em all. Blah, maybe I can get my ISP to get me a faster connection so I don't have to upload so long. BTW, I'm still uploading.

Hey guys, you're all a bunch of nice people. I pretty much got that problem solved. I somehow magically got Verizon to give a faster Internet service, I upload 6.5 times faster now, thanks a lot anyway.

Having same problem, With release D. After about 3-4 maps crash. Also no log or error. Have to kill the process and restart server.
