Hey guy's, want to know if you could help me out. I rented a 12 slot public COD server from http://www.vskgamingservers.com
I have accessed the FTP site, where it shows all teh COD folders, a serverdoc.exe file...
Now that we have the server, how do we start it up lol... I don't know what is the next step!!! I would assume we may need to start the server somehow, and we will need to start some configuration for the type of server and settings we would like.
We want a 12man Search and Destroy Server with PunkBuster and PAM utility installed. For right now I would he happy getting the server up and running.
I want to know if it's something with the dedicated.cfg file.
If someone could help me step by step how to do this I would appreciate it very much....
Thank's again

You are in the right place on the right forum. There are plenty of step by step instructions on exactly what you are looking for.
Inspite of that,..I am going to reccomend that you go here:
http://www.codboards.com/index.php?showtopic=830
It doesnt get and easier than this. You should join that board as well.
When you follow that link, you will see what I am talking about.
Easy,

Ok I followed that link, and I understand it looks easy but I have one big questino before I do this....
1. It says if i want to make a dedicated server on MY COMPUTER... however, I rented a gaming server at that site, I was given FTP, serverdoc....
now do I make a config in the dedicated.cfg file and upload it to the ftp site? Is that all that's needed

Hi Passport. :!:
I don't think you'll need to follow all those directions to create your server because your server Provider will probably have set that up for you. But the directions will give you an idea of what files should be out there and where they should be placed, and what they are used for.
You're correct about the importance of the "dedicated.cfg" file. Look in the directions (in that link above) for the importance of this file! This file is the key to configuring about everything you need for the server. I suggest creating a dedicated.cfg file from scratch by using one of the online configurators out there, like this one:
http://www.awemod.com/php/codconfig/codconfig.php
BTW, I just checked out that link to your provider and the website says "Every Dedicated machine includes Windows Server 2003, Bulletproof FTP Server, Remote Desktop...". If you have remote desktop to the server, then basically you have admin over the whole box and you can do anything you want I think. They probably have set it up as a VMWare virtual server.
*EDIT* OOPS, I think I looked at the wrong page on your server provider's site. I think this is the correct one: http://www.vskgamingservers.com/cod.php According to that the game server only includes Ftp and Remote Serverdoc, so I don't think you get admin over the whole machine. Sorry. :P

Hey, take a look at tar6et's post in this topic: http://www.codadmin.com/nuke/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=2690
He talks about using that serverdoc.exe program you mentioned elsewhere. It looks like that program is supposed to be downloaded to your pc, then you just run it and point it to the IP of your server, type in the username/password, and it allows you to start/stop your server.
