Hi I have a question about "server rental" firms.
Is it common to have access to the full server's console in these firms?
What pings do you have on rented servers.

Maybe there is someone on this forum from a company of this type?

Console access is unlikely, as it would require either shell access on Linux or a Remote Desktop account on Windows. I'd honestly stay away from any company that would allow such thing.

As for ping, that just depends on who you go with. Find a place that has a location close to you, or central to your group of players. Most GSPs will give you IPs and/or servers to try out before you buy.

If you want true console access, you could go with a dedicated machine and run the gameserver yourself. These typically run $100-$150 depending on what/where you get one. Obviously if you're just looking for a 16 man server, this isn't the way to go, but a couple servers or one big one may justify the cost.

Well I've asked about access to the server's console because .... we created www panel with full accessible console :D (It was tested in more than 10 games and worked fine) - you see every text that game server writes into his real console (output), and you can write into the server's console (input). Input didn't worked only in UT and AVP2 - in those games only console output is available).
I'm curious if any "server rental" firm would be interested in including this feature into own offer under licence.

Nice.

Does this work on Windows, Linux or both?

Are you speaking about game server system oraz system of client that is using our panel?
Our game servers works under freebsd, and the panel - it is designed mainly for windows, but it can work under different systems.
