just in....

After analyzing the data from our first round of closed Caspian Border tests, we have great news for participants in the Battlefield 3 PC Open Beta: the DICE team has decided to bring back Caspian Border for the beta’s final weekend and conduct an open large scale test of the 64 player Caspian Border map.
*****Please keep in mind that as this is beta we will be stress testing our servers***** As such, users may experience crashes, network instability and outages as we roll out and configure servers and network utilities. Understand that such potential issues and the testing environment are not reflective or indicative of the final product and that, through your participation, you will be helping to ensure future stability and functionality.
As we are again specifically testing 64-player server configurations, this test will be for PC only. The Caspian Border servers will be available for all PC players to join. Caspian Border will be available starting Friday, October 7th, in the afternoon (CET).

Looking forward to giving this a go as i missed playing Caspian the first time around. Hopefully not too many people TK ing for aircraft or looking for the rest of your squad, only to find them all waiting for the next helo/aircraft to spawn.

Still 48hrs is better than nothing and at least its a bigger map.

Just had a round on Caspian, despite ping of 33 to server the lag was immense... i guess thats exactly what they are testing so no complain :D

I have been playing some too, to find a server that had some space I was playing on one in the US. My ping was about 130 but I can't say I saw much evidence of lag. There were a few collision issues when driving a jeep too close to another.

In general this is what I have been waiting for. Sounds like BC:2, looks quite a lot better than BC:2 but with the scale and game play of BF:2. That after all is what I wanted from the game. BF:2 with some special sauce to bring it upto date...

Agreed :D -- Replayability is for me the biggest fun factor in the BF series, the games (Conquest) never go the same way :)

I can't wait to try out the vehicles. I'm of the same mind, wanted basically an updated BF2.

Someone needs to teach me how to fly with a mouse / keyboard. My only "success" so far is when I collided with a heli and managed to kill both of us.
