I've written two articles on recruiting for clans and guilds. They are free. If you find them helpful at all please let me know? Several more helpful articles besides these two.

Good stuff. It's been some time since I've been in a clan, but you speak the truth.
I can imagine a website, forums, twitter, facebook, etc. are all good tools nowadays to promote a clan and form a stable community.
I think Google Plus would be an outstanding social tool to use for a clan (I prefer it to Facebook). Would be easy to separate so many different groups one communicates with that is gaming related. Ranks, admins, league admins, other clans, new recruits, etc.

I read the article about diminishing numbers. It made a lot of seance, our lot is a small group that have been together for around 10 years. The remnants of a 50+ competitively successful clan. I have just got back from a clan BBQ, it was great to see my friends. And that's it these guys are my friends and it doesn't really matter what games we play. We pick up new members from time to time. Some stay and some go. As for the central core of the clan I fear it is made up of the people too dumb to leave... I know this much, evenings wouldn't be the same without having a couple of beers and talking with my friends while to virtually run about shooting and nade juggling.

Thanks for taking the time to peruse the articles. Pendragon, I am envious of your clan BBQ. This is something I am trying to build with my current endeavor... i.e. a regional team with many members from one locale.
I too have a group of players that are "too dumb to leave" as you put it but have met them in several different teams over the years. Now we are all on one team for BF3.
Thanks again to both. I truly hope to assist those who are trying to make something successful of a team and your feedback is vindication I am on the right track.

Good articles, i can see exactly what you mean. I am not myself an active Clan member anymore but when I was I know that recruitment was on-going all the time as members drop out all the time for various reason.

Setting up a new team? Or, is your guild or clan floundering? Does it seem like things are falling apart? It may be that the team leadership has lost focus on what it is supposed to be doing. Find out the solution for FREE in my article on finding your team's direction.

How Do You Handle Your Team's Treasury?
Do you hold all the money? Do you have your members pay your providers directly? I've put together an article exploring these topics at my blog: http://GamePreacher.com
