i have a server called: {D.O.G.}PLACEofGOD at callofduty://4.4.232.124:28960/?type=game . Whenever multiple people play on my server at once, my entire game goes lagging, and all the players( besides me ) go to extremely high ping! I have downloaded and extracted the file HLC_RCON v4.1, and my computer has xDSL speed. Usally my ping is around 50. I run my Server from my pers :cry: onal computer, can anyone help me? :cry:

I'm sorry to say, but I don't think there is much you can do about it. A XDSL line don't contain enough bandwith for more than 1-4 players. That's why most clans rest servers with 100 MB lines.. I think the rule of tumb is 1 MB pr. player.

And HLC-RCON have nothing to do with it, It's just an administrative tool - an ingame graphic interface to RCON commands..

Its actually more like 30kb/player. Between my 20 and 32 man servers, I can push upwards of 5mbit outgoing; no where near my 100mb connection (thank god, I can only imagine the b/w bill). About 40 times what most DSL lines have for upload speed (128k)

So by that rule, 3-4 players should be able to play on DSL. Make sure you set the rate setting pretty low. 5000-8000 should be more than enough for 4 people.

You are on the money there.
25-35 k upload per player.
Means that broadband will allow at best 8-10 players...avg. 256 max cap upload.

Not to memtion all the stuff windows runs in the background eating up bandwidth.

Most all Clans do rent servers for just that reason.

That is why we are in biz...

Hi ALL!!
I just want to say that this site is AWESOME!!! You all are doing a wonderfull job. I wanted to say that he is right. I found that if you are gonna host a server on a (256 upload connection) you should go into your windows processes and shut most of them OFF except for task manager and explorer if you can. If you are not familiar with this and lock up your system, just reboot and it will start up with it all on again. We personally had alot of problems w/conn. Interuptions w6 people until I did that, then we were able to hold 14 until one of the nights of the DARK AGES!! (56K'er) joined, then it was all down hill. Now we rent a 20 peep server and put our home server up in private( for practice ).
