Custom Maps on Server

I like to add a couple of custom maps to my server.

My question is ones it is on the server and it is set up correctly.Will people be able to join other server after they downloaded to new map?

Or do they got to have the map on there computer to be able to play that map?

I've tried to enter 6 servers with a custom maps running and wasn't able to.
All i got was an error message could not load XXXX.

Custom maps do not interfere with connecting to other servers, regardess of whether sv_pure is on or not; sv_pure only cares about modified game files.
