I just added a split link for two cables... one for this internet and the other for TV right next... i had it hooked up before but i have moved my internet-modem up to a nother room which is soon having the router hooking up the two pc's...
and now my ping is at 80+ now that i have the split link up here and before it was at 30+... so my question is... is it just my luck for the time being or is it because of the split-link ?
How did you split it?
Tell me you didn't split your single connection TV cable and used a connector to branch one cable to the TV and the other to your modem?
I don't know where you live but in my area, the cabling used for the TV is not the same as the cabling used for connecting to the modem. You can certainly use the TV cabling, but it's not of the same quality and as such will certainly cause signal degradation and possible packet loss.
When I had cable, use DSL now, I had one cable wire that hooked directly to the main box and then a separate TV cable wire hooked to a splitter that was connected to the main box. I also had a power booster hooked up for the TV cabling, which is another one of the reasons you should never split your modem cable and tv cable on the same line - modem and power booster don't like one another.
If you can, have a completely separate cable hooked up to the modem (no splitting with the TV cable), otherwise you'll just have to live with higher signal loss and most likely some packet loss with it.

hmm... i think i understand what you meen...
but the cables i used are the same cables i used before... i was just wondering seeing that the link-spliter is so close now... does it make it slower?
like insted of a highway you have a two lane street with a bend and street light... you need to go slower at the bend etc...
so thats what im really asking... because i had a long ass cable coming from my basement up to this room going into the pc and a normal tv cable into the tv... they wernt connected at all... but now i have moved my rogers box so i needed the cable connection wire into the rogers box insted of tv... and then i got the spliter and got the tv hooked up... im going to check online in a minute if my ping is back to normal...
Yup, not really the ideal setup you want. 1 cable line dedicated to the modem is the best setup; splitting between the modem and the tv is not a recommended. Also, the shorter the distance from the modem to the main cable box the better (that means using a shorter cable line too).

sh!t that sucks... because my MAIN cable line comes into my garage... and this room im in right now is the 3 story up...
hmm i need to figure somthing out then... hmm do you know how to hook up Routers? i also have a picture i made on my set up... so i can show u and you can walk me threw if you know how to...
thanks for the help so far
There's plenty of threads in here about router setups, just search the forum and you'll see,
