Black screen upon connecting

For the past week i have been trying to get my server running but whenever i connected i am introduced by a black screen before the map loading screen and it just hangs. I can get back to the main menu by pressing Esc or /disconnect.

I have tried:
Reinstalling two different version of CoD2
Reinstalling Debian/Ubuntu several times
All patches
config tweaks
Searching all over the internet

If you are running your game with anti-aliasing 4x that might be the cause. At least it used to be. You can find this setting in the video options somewhere.
