ok can someone tell me why every time i reboot my server the ip address changes
is there anything i can do to stop this or is there a workaround as i give ip to people the they can not get on the next day

If you're running it from your house, theres not much you can do. Your ISP assigns you an IP address everytime you sign on (DSL is usually worse than cable for switchin your IP frequently. I'm on cable and have had the same ip for 2 years.)

Your only option is to get a service (free) like www.dyndns.org and give your friends the 'name' of your server.

Essentially it sends your ip to the dyndns servers whenever it gets changed. They in turn assign the IP to a name you choose (ie. jdwright.dyndns.org = my ip, same idea as www.codadmin.com = its ip).

Then they can just add the server to their favorites using the name instead of IP, and it should change for them whenever your server's IP changes.
