My latest project is the Internet Game Archive, it is pretty much what it says in the title. Came across the idea when I was looking for an imdb style site for games. I found a few, but none of them had what I was looking for, so I decided to make my own.

The idea of the archive is to index every game ever made, pretty unrealistic target I know, but we're going to give it a shot. Something I would also like to bring into the archive is a community feel, with as many people as possible helping out to reach the target, so here is when I come to ask for help.

If you want to help out the list of jobs is avaliable at http://press.internetgamearchive.com/

If you want to submit a game to the archive use the following file.

If you are interested in Beta testing the site please contact me either by PM/ Twitter/ admin@internetgamearchive.com

For all those interested the iRcon iPhone application is currently waiting App Store review.

Sounds really cool. I love reference sites, so a gaming archive and database would be fantastic.

Are these volunteer positions at this time?

Are these volunteer positions at this time?

At the moment they are, and probably will be for the first couple quarters. I am working out a financial plan which will include paid positions.

Currently, my main concern is getting the project off the ground and as the project does not have much money invested in it yet I would like to see how the project runs with volunteers until we are in a more stable position. When we can explore a little more.

I have also forgotten to mention Beta testers in the first post. If you are interested in testing the current version of the Archive, please contact me either by PM/ Twitter/ Email mentioned in the first post and press site.

Will the archive just include information or files where possible?

If it's just info Wikipedia dose a good job, if it's files then there are no end of games related file hosts. As for community there are loads of community sites as well, heck this is one! Not wanting to piss on your idea but what is the point if these resources are already out there?

Whatever you intend to bring to the party it's going to have to be massive cos your up against Wikipedia and some of the big boys of game publicity. Not to mention all of the magazine websites. Some of these are multi-million dollar enterprises! Good Luck! you are going to need it :)

The archive includes Information, Screenshots and Trailers. I never thought of files as such, what do you mean by that? Patches, Server Files or what?

The reason I decided to start this, was becuase I didn't like how Wikipedia and the other sites showed the information, I found myself having to trail around lots of pages and read big lumps of text.

I am well awear I have a huge load of competition, and yeah, I am going to need some luck, but its all good fun!

Yes, the site is a lot like IMDB.

Whilst I do wish you well in this endeavour, as stated, there are many usefull resources around the internet although they can be improved upon.

What would give your venture more credibility would be to ensure the websites you list in your post's footer, which are named in such a way as to possibly be affiliated with this one, are adequately admined.

I noticed after a brief visit that there, where you state in a few posts that you can be contacted there OR on this site, which could be misconstrued and cast the wrong message, that there seems to be a preponderance of posts offering "erectile dysfunction" medication of some sort or another, I must admit that I have nothing against the use of such medication but feel it would be best to seek professional medical advice on this subject :S. Websites with such posts are obviously not moderated and I tend not to patronise them.

I did however count more than 6 different posts that were actively encouraging downloading and using copyrighted materials on these FPS sites

I can't speak for RD or anyone else on this site for that matter, but I am sure you could see the comparisons being drawn especially with the similar naming conventions you have opted to utilise - A possible disclaimer along the lines of "we are not linked / affiliated in any way to FPSADMIN.COM" would be advised
