Hi guys

We've just rented a jolt uk server, had it about 3 days now. The 1st day the pings were really low but ever since they've been really high. We have had players commenting on the lag, which isnt good. The one thing that will scare off players is a laggy server. Looking through ASE the ping is around 30-40 (not too bad) but once you go in game its around 100+.

Is there anything I can do to tackle this problem or is something jolt can only control? I've emailed Jolt but had no reply yet.

Any help would be appreciated.

What's sv_maxrate set to?

What PB settings do you have (they could cause a bandwidth/performance drag if set to do too much or if the server is of lesser quality).

sv_maxrate = 15000 (default i think cos ive not changed it)

I haven't changed any PB settings, I imagine jolt has set those up? I don't really wanna change any PB settings unless I really have to. Anyway, if I did is it changeable from the console in game?

BTW, Jolt seems to have reset the server ! Which has fixed the ping problem but all the changes I have made have been lost. :(

Typially, "lag" issues are host related; a machine reboot or adjustment to the routing system generally fixes them.

Your settings were reset because you didn't add them directly to your config; a problem everyone unfortunately has with jolt.uk...has been their biggest flaw for a LONG time. I honestly don't understand why anyone use them, I'm sure there must be other GSP's over there - I mean even my US based GSP has servers over there.

Without having proper FTP access to your server, there's not much you can do. For PB, however, you can make all the changes via the console or even via the PB web control, then you PB_SV_writecfg to write all your changes to the pbsv.cfg file; which will then retain those settings upon restart.
