How to build a server?

Hello everybody!

Me and some friends are starting a new clan for elite players for COD, CS, NHL 2004, MOHA AA, ET.

We will be scouting for new members on all the servers.

We have a request if someone can tell us how to build your own server.

- We have unlimited server web space
- We will have a website on thuesday or wednesaday
- i am a web designer and programer so i know how to work with programs and scripts


What I would like to know is, what do I need to start a server (scripts, programs, misc)

I am not sure what you mean by "build a server". Are you asking what hardware is nessesary for a good server? Are you refering to how do you run a server? Admin a server? Get a remote server setup? If your going to run it locally (on a machine at your residence or of another clan member) whats your upload speed? Are you wanting to know how much setting up a remote server costs? etc.....

Also as far as recruiting goes.. just please do not recruit in another clans server unless you ask permission first. Many clans are recruiting and they have their servers to attract potential new members. They really don't appreciate someone coming in from another clan into their server and recruiting. So I would ask first. Maybe you already know that but I thought I would toss it out there, since you did say "all servers"

Thanks for your reply. I would want to create a server on my computer or on my webspace (if that is possibile)

The server should be allways running.

Now my questions are:

- How do I run it on my local computer? (Software, do I allways have to be in the game, recomendable hardware)

- Can i run more than one server at once? (one for TD and for SD)

- What is the best software for creating or managing server


As the topic is allso scouting for clan members, we will do it on non-clan servers only. So there is nothing to wory about!

Well, for one thing, If you do it on your computer with a cable/dsl connection, and have say... 1 server set up, if it is dedicated you cannot play on it at all I don't believe. On another note, even if you could get two servers on one machine, with your internet connection you could get maybe 2-3 people in each server before everyone lagged into outer space.
