You need to review your advertising program.

I just figured out that you are sending out emails about this to people who are registered at clanfront.

I looked for a way to opt out of such unsolicited email ads. I could not find one. So, I deleted my account.

Nowhere in your email does it even state that I was receiving the email because I was registered at clanfront.

Seriously, this does not seem very professional to me.

I most certainly won't move your thread to the front page news, but I will let it stay here for a while in hopes that you recognize and remedy this problem.

I must disagree with the reply to this post,

I too am a registered member at ClanFront & I too received the email informing me of the ModMakers website launch. (A Connection between the two sites or just something ClanFront felt I/We may like to hear about - who knows)

Not so much a savagly bad thing to receive 'a single e-mail' in my nearing 12 month site membership, that and considering that all registered members @ ClanFront, 'are probably gamers' with some interest in gaming MOD's. (Hardly the end of the world, as you would have us believe?)

At first glance, the ModMakers site looks as though it could certainly be a good site that I personally may well utilise for the benefit of my Clan in the future. So I can say that, yes Clanfront hit my inbox with a short informitive mail that led me to something Im now glad I have been made aware of it was not about viagra, watches, dating or porn, it was and is something constructive.

In light of the PC gaming hicup and bottom-burp that was and is MW2, and an uncertain future with some/most? developers in relation to game file restrictions and Modding accessibility, is this site not a good thing for our community on the whole?

Professionalism and acting with it, would perhaps also be seen as a failure when a website that in its very make-up, designed to bring Gamers the latest news and events restricts (However minimally) posts of this nature whilst clearly seeking to put down informitive and positive threads due to a personal e-mail issue & hangup.?

TBH, I just don't get it, I think the reply was harsh and OTT surrounding a positive community post with negativity that it certainly did not deserve.

I may have had a hair trigger, and for that I apologize.

Let me explain my reaction though.

When I sign up for a site, any site, I make a choice as to whether or not I want to receive emails from them. I do not mind the occasional email that might pertain to that particular site.

Heck, I might not even mind if that site sends me an email to pimp a new related site.

What I DON'T like is when I get an email where it is not clear who it was from. To me, that equals spam.

In this particular email the from line said "Administrator". I was like "ok, admin from where?" Looking at the body of the email I find nothing about who wrote the email, just info about a site I know I have not signed up for.

Finally, upon looking at the email source I see that the origin of the email was clanfront.

So you see, this led me quickly down a familiar path where I constantly see spam emails that appear to be from one source, when in fact they are from another.

Do I think its great that clanfront is helping get word out about a new site? Yes.

But, and this is a biggy, I think that the folks at clanfront need to seriously look at how they write their emails. They need more info so that someone understands what and why they are seeing said email.

An introduction line stating that this email was from clanfront. Perhaps even a blurb at the end stating clanfront's policy.

You know, something like "you are receiving this email because you are registered at www.clanfront.com. We occasionally help newly formed community sites by letting our registered members know about them via email. If you would rather not receive these types of emails, please change the settings in your user control panel (assuming thats an option). Etc, etc.

You see these explanations from trusted sites in your emails all the time, and cleaning up how clanfront writes their emails would go a long long way toward how they are perceived.

Sorry for being so long winded, and I hope you can now see why I reacted.

I wish nothing but the best for the mod makers site.
