EA Chief financial officer Eric Brown, who spoke at the Wedbush Securities 8th Annual New York MAC Conference, revealed an extensive DLC plan (http://investors.ea.com/eventdetail.cfm?EventID=78845) over the next half year for BC2

EA chief financial officer Eric Brown has revealed an extensive DLC plan over the next half year for DICE's shooter Battlefield: Bad Company 2.

Brown made an address today at the Wedbush Securities 8th Annual New York MAC Conference stating that BFBC2 will receive an "extensive paid digital content plan with players receiving multiple packs of $5, $10 and $15" over the following six months.

EA has already released two maps for free upon the game's launch, with plans for two more free maps by the end of the month. Guess that means we'll be looking for much more from the paid content when it arrives.

now we see why there are no mod tools or dedicated servers out in the public.

I've not seen decent maps from any developers yet. The only saving grace for any release going back many years has been the community mappers.....Will definitely need to check them out long before I'd pay for any of them.

Wonder what they'll add to top the great looking 2D sandbags from the original maps....

Hasn't this always been what we knew to be coming?

As a game server admin it does bring up the old question of do you run the maps? Remember when BF2 had it's DLC (we called it an expansion pack back then) if you ran the extra maps in rotation it was a sure fire way of emptying your server as the players without the maps were kicked!

When Special Forces was released a lot of people got it because there were transferable weapons from one game to the other. Nothing stung as bad as being killed by a guy using a weapon you didn't have, and couldn't have until you bought the other game.

It will have to be a question for the clan. Should a clan insist that members spend more money on DLC just so the new maps can be run in rotation? It would be wrong to exclude clan members from playing on the server just so the more wealthy members can play with new content. On the other hand you don't want to drive members away because they can not play their game to the fullest.

How about getting the content that we have already paid for to work first !!!! waiting for data.... waiting for data.... waiting for data.... waiting for data....

Because that would be adding bugs on top of bugs? :D

I dont think they care much to be honest. Their DLC plan is made - unlocking content thats already on the Game files .... We'll get screwed as a result don't worry. As for the Server Admin problem i think the poor guys are already having their share at the moment as EA Online service is more down than up :/

I think its bad PR Zeroy. They shouldn't be talking anything but bug fixes ATM, until then no talk of extra content.

If you read this in conjunction with the VIP map pack 2 announcement, there news is good.

Essentially the other annoucement says new maps will not be charged for. The DLC they refer to are "expansion packs" that increase capabilities. My guess is new weapons, gadgets, etc.

Considering that IW is charging for maps in MW2, this is a clever approach that doesn't split the community into those who paid for the new maps and those who didn't.

Everyone expects DLC now - I think this is the best way to go about it.

They are saying the opposite - new maps are free.

They will ask you to pay for an expansion which is additional "features" - which sounds like additional weapons, gadgets, etc. We shall see.

lets all be careful of what Dice/EA says.

Remember they said there was going to be dedicated server unlike MW2 then we find out the dedicated servers are only for GSPs.

Dice/EA like to leave out little (major) things....

Don't get me wrong I'm loving BFBC2 but I hate being misled.

What gets me are that so many just think EA/Dice are like Gods and worship the ground they walk on.

They are just like Activision, full of GREED and don't give a sh!t about the pc community.

There are issues with the new game and yes the almighty buck is important, but let's not get carried away. There is a big difference between MW2(Activision) and BFBC2(EA).

What Activision did with MW2 was misleading the pc community. They told us that the MP would be the SAME as in the past and then they unveil a whole new structure of MP that you knew without a doubt they had planned all along to use.

I have never felt like EA has mislead us on this game.
