Just saw this posted:

DICE has requested that all server providers hold off on creating new servers while they work on an issue that is causing heavy server load due to the large number of servers currently running. A fix is in development to prevent the server browser from causing the heavy server load and new servers will be able to be setup and launched after that is released.

I got my 2 servers yesterday and just found this out. My question is why the server provider did not say ahead of time this was the case and how long is this going to be is my main question?

As soon as EA / DICE stabilizes the servers, they will release the hosting companies to create more servers. Hard to say exactly when.

I saw this over at Voodoo Extreme, although they don't state their source:

At DICE's request, all GSPs will switch off Battlefield: Bad Company 2 servers after eight hours of inactivity, in an effort to reduce load on EA's crash-happy master server:http://ve3d.ign.com/articles/news/53663/Inactive-Battlefield-Bad-Company-2-Servers-Being-Disabled

I'm assuming you can turn your server back on when it get's autoshutdown -- but still, this isn't the most encouraging news, especially for the folks still waiting for their server to be set up.

This statement is FALSE!!!! They did not request that!! Multiplay sent that out to thier customers.

but I can tell you this is totally false!!!

EDIT

DICE confirmed they asked multiplay to do this but they had not asked any other RSP as far as I know............

DICE didnt ask them, it was more of Multiplay offering a solution to help alleviate the backend problems. How this blew up to "Every GSP is Shutting Down Servers" is insane.

Only 50% of what they had on hold... Be precise or you will flood support bins........

The hold I believe is still on. We were able to install a % of back ordered customers but at this point are not able to put new orders online.
