Keeping with the tradition of this site. What other tools do you use to keep your servers running.

I want to make this a sticky with links to any useful apps. programs or tools you may use.

I'll start:

FireDaemon freeware and paid versions

What Is It?
FireDaemon is a utility that allows you to install and run virtually any native Win32 application or script (eg. BAT/CMD, Perl, Java, Python, TCL/TK) as a Windows NT/2K/XP/2K3 service. FireDaemon features easy configuration (via GUI or XML), a low memory/CPU overhead, subprocess prioritization, custom environments, CPU binding plus monitoring and logging to the event log and on-disk log files

Autokick Free but could go commercial with extended features

What is it?
Autokick is a Windows based program that assists server administrators in managing the environment of their servers in order to help them provide a good gaming experience for players. It does this by allowing admins to set tolerance levels for player behavior. If the rules are violated, the admin can warn, kick or even ban players from the server.

RealVNC (VNC) free

What is it?
VNC stands for Virtual Network Computing. It is remote control software which allows you to view and interact with one computer (the "server") using a simple program (the "viewer") on another computer anywhere on the Internet. The two computers don't even have to be the same type, so for example you can use VNC to view an office Linux machine on your Windows PC at home. VNC is freely and publicly available and is in widespread active use by millions throughout industry, academia and privately.

Serv-U WinX $39.00

What is it?
serv-U is a FTP server you can install on your dedicated server. Much easier to use then FTP via IIS. also comes with a simple to setup interface and tray icon, to inform you when someone is connected to your FTP site. Used to upload cfg files as well as maps and mods.

ServerDoc Free and $19.00-$52.00

What is it?
Serverdoc restarts most programs when they crash. From ftp and game servers to stockmarket programs. Serverdoc uses very little resources so your server performance is not effected.
Remote Access via web interface
Customise the interface look and feel with Pro version.
Run hldsupdatetool.exe at scheduled events using schedule.txt

Please add any other programs you use on your game servers. duplicate apps welcome. Not everyone likes VNC I prefer SSH or Terminal servers.

You can remotely start/stop a server with serverdoc
http://serverdoc.com/

The free version has to be updated monthly, but it allows you to:
Restart crashed programs/servers
Schedule (rotate/queue) commands
Remote control (www interface)

Diva,
The 3 most common problems people will have getting it to work correctly are:
1) you MUST USE SHORT DIRECTORY NAMES, serverdoc.exe C:\program~1\callof~2\ will work while serverdoc.exe C:\program files\call of duty\ will not.
2) To get the www remote to work you have to create and edit the file "wwwconfig.cfg" in the serverdoc directory.
3) In the free version the remote program only listens on port 82.
To access it you need to use full IP and port.
For example,
212.58.64.123 will not work
212.58.64.123:82 will not work
http://212.58.64.123:82 will work

I may write a quick tutorial for server doc. In the mean time if you have already read the help file.

You can email me and I'll try and help you.

Rcon4COD is a windows based COD server admin utility.

You can set anygame type, adjust server variables, enable/disable weapons, set rifles only, no snipers , change friendly fire mode etc
You can also have messages cycling to the server on a 1 - 10 minte timer.

I think the best tool out for us admins is, udpviper bot!

Its a real nice bot that runs on your server and allow you to set different admin levels and even has stats tracking!

UDP Viper isn't being supported anymore.... it won't work with 1.3 and the current issues are not being addressed. They implied to me that they don't like COD so they aren't going to continue programming in it... which make sense for them.

I use it and love it... but such is life.

Anyone know of any linux server utilities out there? I am in desperate need of one !

Eroc, I just checked their site and nothing is mentioned about them dropping this project. Do you have a link? This would be another major blow to CoD if they dropped this project.

A link... no.

Let's put it this way... I have it first hand from the two who do it themselves. I talked with them on Ventrillo for quite a bit to get the latest version out and they told me what I said above.

We are already looking for another server program to replace it since it doesn't work with 1.3 beta....

I love the program but they don't like COD... they are RTCW fans big time.

You can tell this by looking and seeing if either developer has posted on the forum (UDPB COD specifically) in quite some time.

i am just running a beta version of ServerWatch now that has built in a icq interface in it.
So when people in the server type this is chat: !needadmin
It sends message to all admins on icq and the admin can talk to the man that sendt the message in the server from icq and can allso kick and stuff from his icq.

Today when i was running it people got admins in the server in just a short time when it was need of admins.
So the players in our server really liked this feature.
And i dont think any other tool have anything like this at all.

:!:  :!:

Linux Users.... admin tools update:

Udp Bot (for Linux) Update:

They updated the UDP Viper bot to work with 1.3 but it's so buggy it's not worth using at this point. It crashed with every other command and they hate the games. They rarely reply to posts and won't fix the bugs on it since the first 1.3 fix.

good example:
http://www.udpviper.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=4088

or just read the forum in general:
http://www.udpviper.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=23

As for ServerWatch for Linux:

It doesn't work with 1.3 and the testing is still up in the air as to when its going to work as of April 8th, 2003.

Go here for the post:

Anyone have any suggestions for linux users?
