Is Valve the only developer supporting the PC community? Why can Valve keep releasing patches for their PC game when other developers can't get a patch out to save their life?

Kotaku quoting the TF2 community site, Community Fortress, has an interview with Robin Walker of Valve.
Over two years on from the game's release, every Team Fortress 2 (http://kotaku.com/tag/teamfortress2/) class save the Engineer has received a major update. Does that mean, then, that there's only one major update left in the game? No way.

In an interview with Team Fortress 2 community site Community Fortress, Valve's Robin Walker has said "We've got multiple updates in the works still, at least one of which will land before the Engineer pack. As always, we haven't planned too much out beyond that point, because we want to see what feedback we get from the community."
Multiple updates, but only one for the engineer. If this isn't the most exhaustively-supported game out there, I'll eat my Heavy's fluffy hat.

Its been a long time since I posted on here. Hope everyone is doing ok.

I made the decision a long time ago to give up on all developers other than valve and blizzard (I know they are merged with activision, but they have a totally different outlook). I now only play valve games on my PC and that's the way it is likely to stay for the a long time to come.

I basically can't be bothered with the BS any longer.

I love the TF2 devs, and wish more would put that much into their titles.

I would like to see them update the engine on the other games. I have been playing a lot of Day of Defeat:S recently. It love the game play but it's over due an update to bring the graphics quality up some. Maybe it's time for Source:2?

Source 2 is actually source 2007, or as it is widely known "The Orange Box Engine (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Source_(game_engine))." This is what runs TF2, Portal, Episode 2 and a few mods (Fistfull of Frags is the only one I can think of). DOD:S got Orange Box added to it (http://www.steampowered.com/dod/palermo/)July of 2008 and always had better visual technology than other source games.

Of course if you want a completely new graphics engine from the ground up, that is likely a Source 2, but Valve seems to be working on the modularity of their engine and just throwing new features into it. I would imagine that we will see some big improvements when Episode 3 hits in 2011?
