EA restructures Battlefied: Heroes pricing; fans enraged
EA and DICE have dropped a bomb on fans of Battlefield: Heroes: the price for items using in-game currency has been jacked up, while the price for funds purchased using real cash has been lowered. The net change? Gamers now must pay to play with the same weapons they've been long enjoying for free, or they have to grind for hours to earn them. Heroes has become something it used to mock.
It seems gamers simply weren't spending enough money, though, as a recent price restructuring (http://www.battlefieldheroes.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=88567)destroys the ability to play without spending real money. The cost of all items in terms of the free VP has been increased substantially, while the cost of items in "BattleFunds," which you buy with real money, has been decreased. In other words, it's now impossible to earn or keep decent equipment simply by playing; you're going to need to get out the checkbook to stay competitive on the servers. The game's player base is, to put it mildly, enraged.

LOL here we go folks. This isnt the only game that is going this route. Wait till you have to pay to play Call of Duty. I see that coming soon with the first DLC for it being released.
Pay to play a online fps. never in my life did I dream of that. And never will i ever pay to play. Guess my fps days are over and time to break out the good ol games from the past.
How about that new MOH game that was just announced today.

Wanna bet it too will be pay to play. LMAO

I find it funny the amount of cod fans all jumping ship to DICE, EA and BC2 claiming they listen to PC gamers etc yet this just proves they are the same as IW. It's all about the money.
Remember when BF2 1.3 patch came out and the number of pissed players. Now this. Looks like repeated bait and switch tactics. Least IW gave us all the crap at once and was done with it :P
You won't see me rushing to pre-order anything from EA or DICE.

Of course! Im on same thoughts as you are MaydaX, im not all that chuffed on BC2 either ..... i really reserve judgment until i play the demo at least, it looks like another console port to me and all that Ranked dedi server is suspicious as well.
As for Battlefield Heres, no surprises, it was always design to be a cash cow from the start.

And i would say we ought to Scream and Shout a lot more than we do! We have now to realise that this is pure consumer abuse. In the past a game would be release with 100% content and beside patches to fix issues there was no DLC or crap like that. Now you get a 60% game on release (the 40% being ready in the background for most) and they SELL you the 40% in bits on top of retail price?? This has got to stop and fast!
I know its a little off-topic here since BFH base is free but its getting valid for a lot of titles these days.

Raising the prices is their way of side lining the game. It is beginning to lose steam, so if they can squeeze some cash out of people, they will, if they can't, then they will do what they always do, shut down the master server and be done.
The companies say they are listening to the public, but truth be told, they sit at their desks with closed ears.
Take Soldier of Fortune for instance, they had a great series, killed it dead with
soldier of fortune: Payback (Mercenaries wanted).
At this point, they are all just looking to make a buck, but we as consumers should be taking the crap back to them. If it is fulfilling, we as consumers should have the right to not only complain, but get the cash back!
Spend 60 bucks on a game that doesn't increase the potential but decrease it, is a crime in and of itself. To expect gamers to continue to pay? What is this world coming to.
Unacceptable

Its the "Dumbing Down of America" theory,in action,LOL!!!!!!
Its just now showing up in OUR games.
I know I'm off topic from here on but had to vent.:)
Just look at the commercials on TV.
Look at our politicians in Washington.
Been to Walmart lately??????
Or the driving IQ of most users of our nations roads??????
How about our education standards(elem thru to universities),lower them so more students pass,WTF??????
Its coming full circle,unfortunatly.
Its been said "80% of the population has alot in common with a box of rocks".
(I MAY rank in at 80.000001%,lol)
My main enjoyment in PC/Dedicated server gaming is the people I meet. Most are VERY intelligent, therefore my pleasure & IQ is challenged,LOL!!!!!!
So what can be done?????? Any ideas??????
BTW,I know I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed,LMAO!!!!!!

it isn't the dumbing down of america that cause the gaming issues... It is indeed the gaming production and development companies not hiring the right talent for their consultation. They have 60 year old CEO's telling people what is right and wrong with gaming.... Are you kidding?
I myself am 36... and am probably one of the FEW people who could tell you the actual DATE that maydax got involved in PBBANS development. If Maydax came to me and said " Guess what Saint, I was asked to consult on XYZ game " I couldn't be more happy cause at the friggin least, I know for a fact, maydax knows what's up. Even if maydax doesn't play so often anymore in the old games ;)
The bottom line? The game companies have all this talent and are paying them out the ass, but are not getting dime one on the end of it. I think people should take their games back and get their money back if they don't like it. Games are like any other product out there that you are not satisfied with, don't like it? GET YOUR MONEY BACK!
Show these companies you are not happy. Boycots are great, borrowing the game so that you can play it over hamachi, that's your choice, I am with RUDEDOG on this one, 5 people in my clan bought it, 5 people played it, 4 people hate the matchmaking system and the high pings, 1 person got board because he only played the single player and I have yet to (IF EVER)buy it. I thought perhaps to purchase it just to keep the collection, I don't think so. The game will be dead in a year (give or take a month), no DLC, no Community improvement, NOTHING. Hell, even Aliens Versus Predator2 by Sierra still has COMMUNITY based fan driven content to this day even after shutting down the master servers.
Remember when games had a decent Single player concept ? Not probably since Soldier of Fortune 2. That game was a revelation and was killed due to the fact they didn't want to be challenged in trying to reinvent the wheel.
You know where the AC130 playability came from for MW2? A cod4 mod. They just borrowed the community's ideas and did this game. LESS MONEY TO BE SPENT and MORE MONEY TO BE MADE.
Give less, charge more!
Funny you should say that

Maydax, you never have ceased to amaze me throughout the years. lOl. Thanks for that chuckle!
The point here kids is this (don't take kids to heart, we are all kids at heart),
Infinity ward isn't the only one doing it, treyarch has messed up, EA (shoot, doesn't matter what branch of EA it is (Dice can make a decent game just can't patch it successfully, BF2 anyone? ) ALLLLL of them are taking the same concept and looking to get the cash out of it. They can't be bothered with making a quality game any longer knowing that most of the people are going to just buy it for console and play it there. Console users don't understand Glitch and issues. They just , play. Play . play . Play.
They don't realize that being a gamer, a PC gamer, is always HC gaming. HARD CORE for those of you who missed it. We as PC gamers, have to get the damn game to work on a rig that obviously wasn't the rig they tested it on. And if we can't get it to work, we go out and try and find the method to make it work.
Console: Place disk in tray, pick up controller, move on.
I am not making this a scenario of Console versus pc, I am simply stating the fact that, they don't make games for PC anymore, they make console ports for pc. And that is shit. Consoles wouldn't have their day in the sun if it wasn't for the PC> Both work well, it is just that some are not suited to PC gaming.
PC dedicated hosting should not suffer for that. I have a dedicated box and have plans for three more, kinda sucks that the companies are now hurting the industry to line their pockets. The same industry that made them their money.
