Are u Seeding your WaW server?

I stumbled across a server tonight that being seeded giving the impression that there is alot of people playing. When in fact there were only about 10 out of 40, which showed on the in-game browser, playing the game.

This sound alot like modern air borne, if my memory serves me.

I'll keep the actual server name to myself but I know it is a recognized clan/community.

I think it is pretty low to do this IMHO.

um yah, i've seen that on a few servers and wondered how they do it. I know it can be done, but yah ... gets them a ranking and pulls people in eventually. The one I saw earlier this week actually ends up pulling in a bunch of real players as the day goes to night. Using the latest mod. Too busy for me.

Btw, I really enjoyed playing on your server the other night, really appreciate the touch of realism/tactical gameplay. Refreshing :D Just need to find the time to get back over.

Some GSP's will seed your server for an extra fee. It allows clans/teams/communities to draw in players. Players are more apt to join a server showing 37 online and playing then if it says there's only 3 online and playing. Players pop in.. and stay.. and pretty soon the server is full without the "connecting" bots. Ppl can do whatever they want with their money IMO. If they want to have a server with players constantly on it... it's their money. My only issue is that every once in a while the server clears all the "connecting" bots and it coincides with lag spikes.

I guess we'll agree to disagree on this point.

I think it is bogus to mislead people reguardless of the intent.

Also to add, a fore instance, if you'd just spent the last 10 minutes downloading files off this server only to find out there is nobody in it, I would be pretty upset...
