According to a Shacknews (http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/60763) article posted yesterday Infinity Ward chief Vince Zampella declared in an interview with Official PlayStation Magazine that

"With Call of Duty 2, we were dead set against it being World War 2, but Activision really wanted it, the compromise sort of being that we'd get some dev kits for consoles in exchange for doing a World War 2 game. We always wanted to be on consoles and Activision saw us as more of a PC developer."

Seems that both Activision and the PC gaming community were fooled.

We were told at the Modern Warfare event a few years ago that IW wanted to do a modern game when CoD 2 was in development. But Activision wanted to stick with WWII at the time.

However there was never any mention that they wanted to be more console. Granted this was a PC event, so I can see them leaving that part out.

Oh well, they got what they wanted, a PC dev consolized.

Good Luck IW-NVG3D-

Its about time Activision got their act together and told IW what they`re doing and when. Someone has got above their station methinks.. it seems the success of COD4 has gone to their head?

Treyarch once the whipping boy of the PC community have done more for us in this last year than IW did for the whole of the COD4 "year" run.

Wasn't it Grant Collier who said IW would always be a PC-first developer? Something like, "We'll always consider ourselves PC gamers at heart, our true love is really PC gaming", etc? Or am I thinking of someone else?

What happened to GC anyway???

I started reading some old interviews on your prompting. Still haven't found the quote you mentioned, but I found this little gem.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/i_CoD2

Eurogamer: Obviously it's been exciting to see CoD2 running on 360. It looked pretty awesome, something that can't have been that easy to achieve on brand new tech.

Grant Collier: The 360 - it's like this whole new era of gaming. This probably would have been a PC-only title if Microsoft hadn't come to Activision and asked Infinity Ward to do an exclusive for the 360. That was a real honour - we've had a great relationship with them. They've been able to help us out tremendously. But multiple threading - that has been a really challenging thing. I don't want to blow any smoke your way, but it has been challenging.

What it wasn't IW's bargain to get the dev kits? It was Microsoft? Ah revisionist history.....gotta love it.

makes you think.... IF this game is good on PC... will it be the last decent PC fps from IW?

Yeah, pretty conflicting statements.

I think the message I once saw from Grant Collier was on the official IW forum, before the release of MW. He would sometimes pop in and respond or make a comment about something.

I wish I could remember what was said exactly, but I'm pretty sure he said something like "We'll always be a PC developer, we love PC games, most of us game on PC's." So he might have not said PC first developer, but he definitely remarked on IW's stance concerning PC development.

I would like to agree but frankly with the Boat-load of $$ IW brought to Kotick's pockets with COD4:MW, thats not gonna happen, quite the opposite in fact!
