I know some of you have seen this already, but I thought I'd make a post in here so rudedog, ClickBouyow, Sitting_Duck, RDH-Maximus, or someone in the Board Moderators group will be able to STICKY it - *hint * hint*

Anyways, considering the number of questions being asked about how to do this and that, in reference to using RCON and map rotations, I decided to release my RCON reference guide for CoD; it's a modified version of the one I've been using since MOHAA to train my clan members and friends to be server admins.

- View the online web version: [CLICK HERE] (http://braedeninkpen.com/open/CoD_RCON_Reference_Guide-Public_version.htm)
- Download the hand word doc version: [CLICK HERE] (http://braedeninkpen.com/open/CoD_RCON_Reference_Guide-Public_version.doc)

If you guys find any errors or have any suggestions or requests, please feel free to drop me an email: crimson@pjgsquad.com

Updated the guide with some commands I forgot to add earlier; added a couple simple PB commands as well. I won't bother adding all of them because EB has done a fine job defining them so I won't waste my time

Anyways, it's been updated; let me know if there's something you want added.

Im glad this was made sticky, I think myself included as a new server admin always look for the nice simple things like this, thanks and bravo CoDAdmin for the great site. Help is always nice and easy to find here without getting picked on as a noob.

I updated both my PAM Guide and RCON Guide with the latest version of PAM info. I also added some CoDaM specific information so if you use CoDaM, some of this may interest you.

Links are in the original post above as well as in my signature...

Well, I made some rather significant updates to the PAM Guide last night; adding new sections, more detail and examples, as well as included a brand new FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) section.

The FAQ is still a work in progress so if you have any questions/answers you think you'd like added, please free to post them in the PAM Feature Request forum over at garetgg.com - I have a post already made, just add to it:

http://garetgg.com/phpnuke/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=146

Anyways, this should help you guys out a little more (hopefully a lot more).

Note: The update is specifc to PAM only; nothing of important was added to the RCON Guide since the last update.

Ok, I have readed those instructions, but because I dont have so good english, I have atleast ONE problem.

I have installed for me this HLCRCON v. 4.1.41.

I put this .pk3 file to Heat of Battle folder and changed this .cfg file.
Everything else works fine, but I cannot change these Hob maps. Everytime I try to rotate them, its just restart the map.

What shoud I do?

This has nothing to do with my Guide; please post this in a new thread!

Nothing spectatular, just added a couple new sections for other settings I hadn't added as well as commonly asked questions regarding custom mod/map installation - next update will be how to add PunkBuster CVAR & MD5 checks.

uhh... the 'printable' doc version is light grey text on a black background... Could you possibly change that to its previous black text on white layout? I could simply select all of the text and turn it black, but then all the commands would lose their highlighting colour as well :(

PS. great guide, it's helping out quite a bit with getting familarised with RCON :)

Yeah it's just easier for me to resave the web file as a .doc file; saves me from having to make updates to two files. But you're right, it prints out poorly that way. As such, I have updated the Word document version to look better for printing. The commands are still red, links are back to blue, and cvars are a burgandy color.

Let me know if I missed something...

n1!

I'll print it out and use it over the next few weeks, but if there's anything wrong I'll drop a post here :)

Updated to add a link to the Router/Firewall Guide recently released by OldDog - some very useful information for people adding creating home servers and have firewall/routers.

What I'm really interested in atm is a comprehensive guide explaining most - if not all - admin commands, variables etc. Is there such a guide/list? I'm not talking about the practical, every day side of admining, but fully configuring it :)

#1 Sorry Bartman, didn't notice your post until now. Unfortunately, such a guide does not currently exist...at least not one that I know of. If you tell me specific info as to settings you'd like, I might be able to accommodate you.

#2. I have since updated the Guide to include United Offensive Settings. Like my regular CoD info, the additions correlate specifically to every day administration issues. I will be posting this in the UO forums as well to have it Stickied.

Anyways, just an FYI...

Not sure, don't really use any of them any more. Check the UO forums, they're usually posted there if they do (i.e. RCON 4CoD does, I know that much).

Just an FYI for those who prefer to print things, I reformatted the Word document; it's fully printable now.

Just updated the guides to include the new settings/changes added to the CoD 1.5 patch. I still have to add information about the new timeout settings and will get around to that after Xmas when I actually have a change to play with them.

At any rate, a lot of UO settings control/functionality has been added (i.e. voting and most notably, HTTP Redirect) so it's certainly good to take a look. Actual patch specifics can be found at http://www.callofduty.com/patch.

Updated the Guide again to add 3 new cvars to control the kill cam, friendly fire, and drawfriend (team icons) through RCON without having to restart your server.

The commands are:

/rcon setkillcam 0/1
/rcon setfriendlyfire 0/1/2/3
/rcon setdrawfriend 0/1
