Hello.

Yes a Nob at admin here. I use Cyberseals for our server hosting. I am very very green to this stuff and Im having problems finding tools that will allow me to edit the files and change the maps in our server. Is there anywhere someone could kindly direct me to a guide or someone who uses cyberseals.

Thanks

Did CyberSeal give you the information to be able to access the files on your system? There are lot's of FTP programs on the market that you can use. Is that where your having problems? Finding an FTP program? Not sure I fully understand.

As far as changing maps and other rcon commands.. first you have to know what the rconpassword is (also called the admin password). If you do, then try looking at this link. It will give you lots of valuable assistance with various functions of being an admin.

http://www.codadmin.com/CoD_RCON_Reference_Guide-Public%20version.htm

You always have us to ask specific questions. Remember, specific questions get specific answers so be sure to spell out exactly what your wanting to do when posting so we can make sure the answer pertains to your issue.

Hello.

Thank you for the reply. I use Wsftp pro for the ftp. That in its self is not the problem. (altough it wont save my information so I dont have to put it in every time) but thats besides the point.

I do have the pw to gain access to the server information through the Ftp but what I dont know is how to change the map rotation, add maps and mods to the server? I have stored some in the main folder and I have also put them in the codsvr.gfg file and they do not seem to appear on the server.

The other thing I would like to do is have the capabilites of banning cheaters but I get no control panel with the server. I have heard of some servers giving this information to their customers. However, Cyberseals directed me here for all information pertaining to changing the server.

Did we get riped off by the server?

Thanks

Jin

No your fine on the server. Typically server hosts do not supply game admin tools..a few do. Usually they just provide you a way to FTP into your server and, if your lucky, some type of page to restart your own server in the event you need to do that after making some config change. or it crashes or something (although usually they have a script running for server crashes so it will restart the game on it own...hopefully) ..

Anyway you have come to the right place for game admin tools.. there is more here than you can shake a stick at. So let me address some of your issues.

First, map rotation.

1. There are a couple ways to do this. You can have a config file of just map rotations.. then by doing a simple rcon command in the game.. you can load up whatever map rotation you want by calling up the config.. for instance tdm_map.cfg would be a rotation of only Team Deathmatch maps that you want.

So in that case you would have one standard config.. then have multiple map configs, your standard config would call up one by default .. say TDM maps.. but you can quickly set it up for SD, HQ or whatever with a simple command.

To see a sample of a config like this go HERE (http://www.codadmin.com/nuke/modules.php?name=Content&pa=showpage&pid=7) and look at the last line.. you will notice it says "exec tdm_map.cfg" in this instance.. it is calling up a seperate file called "tdm_map.cfg" which has the map rotation this person wants.. it might have all the TDM maps or just a few..whatever they want. The same can be done for SD, HQ and Retrieval gametypes.

Now, another option is to have seperate config file for various game types.. so you would have a TDM.cfg file a SD.cfg file and so on.. each of these hold all the settings for that particular game type and they have the map rotation as well.

If you would like a tool to assist you in making one of these configs you can find some on this site in the "download" section.. or go HERE (http://sos.noginn.com/codserver/)to do it online. Just create the config.. call it anything you want like TDM.cfg and upload it to your server.. then.. to execute it.. go into your game and bring down the console and type /rcon exec tdm.cfg and press enter.. it will change to that config and start wtih the first map in rotation and your off.

If you have any questions on that simply ask here or aim me, email me or whatever I will help you out.

Now.. about banning. You can do this manually by bringing down the console and typing in some commands.. or you can use an admin tool. The good part about having an admin tool is that it will allow you to kick, ban, change maps, change gametypes etc on the fly. There are some great tools out there.. you just run them.. tell them what IP your server is and the rconpassword and start it. Some do require you to upload a file to your server as well in order to get the full benefits of the tool. Many of these tools are available right here in the downloads section under "admin tools" a few in particular that that are pretty easy is Rcon4Cod, Autokick and HLC Rcon.. The thing about HLC Rcon that set's it apart is that you do not have to alt-tab out of the game to use it like other tools.. it has an in-game menu that allows you to kick, ban, change maps, control weapons.. whatever.. you might like that. It really depends on the features you are looking for. Just load em up and try them out until you find one that is right for you.

Lastly as far as mods are concerned. I would first get my system in good running order and know how to fully manipulate it through typing rcon commands or a tool.. once your comfortable with that you can begin installing mods if you wish (although I personally prefer servers that are not modded but that's just me) for assistance with mod you would want to be specific about which mod you are trying to install and what problems you are having. More than likely the author of that mod reads these forums or we can point you to their forums. Heck we might even know the answer ourselves if your lucky.

Hope that helps.

Thanks Momma. I will keep the seprate files in mind that might help the rotation better suit my needs. I will also have to figure out why the costom maps are not loading. I sent you the file to see if there is a problem.

I truely appreciate the help.

I'm not really good with custome maps. Maybe someone here who runs them might chime in. I sent you an email saying you might change your PURE setting off, maybe that would help. Not sure.. the other thing that comes to mind is you might be trying to load the wrong gametype on that custom map. Like chateau wont run SD since it doesn support it. I don't know those are just guesses.

When I download custom maps to test them out for our server, I install them in my Main folder and then start my own server. This allows me to test to ensure the maps load, check out the game types they support and make sure they work properly (i.e. an early conversion of the Hunt would crash the server in SD mode when a bomb was set), see if there's any bad glitches (holes in map, see thru walls, etc.), get the proper code value for the map (i.e. mp_oase, the_hunt, Nuenen, mp_offensive, etc.), and test them with both sv_pure off and on. As long as you do this, you should be ok - that and actually placing the pk3's in your servers main folder...can't forget that lol :P

Ok I have the server running but not without glitches.

And the custom maps just dont work at all.

Perhaps the name is incorrect in the map rotation? Do you actually have to put the .pk extension at the end of it?

Thanks

umm...I'm guessing you didn't read my last post?

I'll explain it a little more. If your custom maps have their own readme, check that as it may have the code name for it; at the very least it'll tell you what game types it supports. If the code name isn't there, do this:

1. Place the pk3(s) in your Call of Duty/Main folder
2. Start CoDMP.exe
3. Click on Start New Server
4. Select a Game Type that the custom map(s) suppot
5. Look in the bottom right window that displays the list of maps
6. Select the map you want to test
7. Click on the Start button
8. After the map loads, press the TAB button and look in the top right corner of the score
9. You'll see the map name with the actual map code you need to use in sv_maprotation and with the map command. Write it down and use that in your hosted servers map rotation.

Examples:

Oase is a custom desert map. It's code name is mp_oase. Offensive is another custom map, it's code name is mp_offensive. The Hunt is yet another custom map, it's code name is the_hunt.

By installing the custom maps in your Main folder and using the Start New Server option in CoDMP.exe, you'll be able to get the code name you need to use in sv_maprotation.

Hello

Thanks for the reply.

I dont have a codmp.exe file

I use the codsvr.cfg file.

Are you talking about the same one?

Here is the example of my custom.cfg file

// *** Map Rotation ***
set sv_mapRotation "gametype tdm map mp_zzz_mohsh_Berlin map mp_farm2 map mp_chateau map mp_dawnville map
mp_harbor map mp_hurtgen map mp_pavlov map mp_powcamp map mp_railyard map mp_rocket map mp_ship gametype sd map
mp_brecourt map mp_carentan map mp_dawnville map mp_harbor map mp_hurtgen map mp_pavlov map mp_powcamp map
mp_railyard map mp_rocket gametype dm map mp_carentan map mp_chateau map mp_dawnville map mp_harbor map mp_hurtgen map
mp_pavlov map mp_powcamp map mp_railyard map mp_rocket map mp_ship gametype re map
mp_brecourt map mp_carentan map mp_chateau map mp_dawnville map mp_harbor map mp_hurtgen map mp_pavlov map
mp_powcamp map mp_railyard map mp_rocket map mp_ship"

// *** Start Server ***
map mp_zzz_mohsh_Berlin

However it will not run berlin at all on the test that I tried. I didnt even load anything just stayed at the same map it was on and put text in the main screen.

Thanks for the help.

There are several renditions of Berlin out there, moh_berlin_beta, moh_berlin, mohsh_berlin, mp_mohsh_berlin, and mp_berlin - I've never seen one using "mp_zzz_mohsh_Berlin".

I want you to re-read my previous post. In step 2, where I say "Start CoDMP.exe", that means launch your Call of Duty Multiplayer executable (i.e. go through your Windows programs menu, find Call of Duty, click on the Call of Duty Multiplayer option); then continue with the rest of my instructions.

If you're still having problems, just uninstall the game and never ever touch it again...lol, just kidding :P . Send me a link to download your version of Berlin and I'll tell you the darn map name - however I strongly recommend you learning how to do this on your own...my instructions are quite clear.

:x( Doh I feel dumb. I found what your talking about however, There are 3 versions of berlin. I would assume it doesnt matter the remaining letters because it has am, ru being american and russian.

However neat trick the map thing. you even get to see a copy of it.

Isee falaisevilla but cannot find it in my main file. So I will have to search for it. Farm 2 is in my main file but not on the look up you gave me.

Another easy way to find out proper map names is to install them and launch multiplayer, bring down the console and do /fdir *.bsp

That'll then list all the maps you have installed and you can even /condump maps.txt to save the list to a text file.

Jinryden

I downloaded the file from cod filed.com and checked it does say zzz_mohsh_berlin

Well if you actually look at the .bsp's there's mohsh_Berlin_Am, mohsh_Berlin_Bri and mohsh_Berlin_Rus depending on which team you want the allies to be. More info on that in the readme.

Thanks Sac and Anex

I got 2 maps to work. Now for my favorite map being berlin to work.

I found that directory and got the names correct. Nuenen and west wall.

Berlin doesnt work so I must take it out.

Anex I get an error code when the map loads and some of the maps are not listed in the screen. I didnt understand what you ment by start codmp.exe. was a little to basic for my advanced brain to understand I guess hehe. But I get a complier error. (Error says codam\modlist)

Oh, you're using CoDam?

You should check the CoDam forums about that one; I'm not as familiar with CoDam as I was with it's MOHAA counter part MAM:

http://www.iwnation.com/Hosted/CoDaM/

It's possible your copy of Berlin is doing something other maps don't and CoDam doesn't like it.

What the heck is that? Just when I thought I was doing ok. I got westwall and Nuenen to work but nothing else. Central market, berlins dont work, falaisevillage, farm, normandy farm.

Gah none of them want to work. I looked at the bsp names and the names in the start server area. HELP!

Thanks

Ps. Is codam a mod or something that I should take off or reinstall the origional disk?

Anex

(Error says codam\modlist)

It's this error that's confusing and why I thought you were using CoDam. Obviously by your reaction, this is not the case...which is even more confusing.

Let's go back to the beginning again.

Are you testing this on your own CoD (i.e. installing them in your Call of Duty/main and using the Start New Server option)?

Are you extracting the .pk3 files from the .zip files and placing them in your Call of Duty/main?

When selecting the Start New Server option, are you checking all the gametypes to see if you custom map appears (i.e. select TDM, then scroll the map list on the right to see if your map appears; select Retrieval and do the same, etc.)?

Do me a favor, follow these instructions:

(1) Install all your mods that you want to use/test
(2) Startup Call of Duty Multiplayer
(3) Press the ~ key to bring down your console
(4) Type "/fdir *bsp" and press [ENTER] (this shows your maps)
(5) Type "/dir /" and press [ENTER] (this shows all files in your Main)
(6) Type "/path" and press [ENTER] (this shows all loaded files in your Main)
(7) Type "/condump mystuff.txt" and press [ENTER] (this writes all that info to a text file named "mystuff.txt")
(8) Type "/quit" and press [ENTER] (this closes CoD)
(9) Using Windows Explorer, browse to your Call of Duty/Main folder
(10) Find the file "mystuff.txt" and send it to me via email (crimson@pjgsquad.com)

NOTE: When typing in the above mentioned commands, please don't use the quotes

That way, I can see what you have in your Call of Duty/Main folder and possibly be able to see what's wrong. I know it's a bit much, but with the problems you're having, we'll need to see what you have in there.

Hello Anex

No the error indicated compiler error and did refer to CodAm. I looked and I do have some CodAm files on the main directory. However, I found out that the custom files needed to be stated as gametype tdm map mohsh_berlin_am or bri or rus which ever. What I was doing was stating them as mp_mohsh_berlin_am and this the map was not loading properly except for the maps that were listed as mp_westwall and mp_nuenen.

I was not trying to load maps that I had made because I havent figured that out yet either. Sorry for the confusion. I did find your help with the list of maps on the right side helpful because as you indicated that is where they are written properly and sac also did the /fdir which also helped with other maps that didnt show in that window.

I have no idea what the complier thing is and not going to try and fix it until it causes a problem for me.

Thank you all for your help it is very appreciated.

The printing function is espically useful for the maps. very nice.
