I just started the process of installing CoDWW on a fresh Windows 7 Build 7000. So far the install process went smoothly. I took a ton of screen shots of the process. I was able to jump into a server but noticed I only had 20 servers listed.
I did not notice the "install update: :p and am downloading and installing that zero day patch.
More info to follow, especially a performance review between Windows 7 and XP Pro.

At times like this it makes you wish that fps worked!
When I made the move from XP to Vista I saw a noticable drop in performance of CoD:4. Strangly CoD:WaW would appear to run very smoothly. I'm not sure where that is because I don't know about the FPS. Is ignorance bliss???
I am also testing W7 at the moment, I have it installed on my laptop. Thing is my laptop is low spec and can't play games. What I do know of W7 is the lower memory usage. Seeing as I have it installed on a laptop with less than 512Mb or RAM.
I'm sort of hopeing to see a return to XP like performance but with all of the nice shinny of Vista.

While I don't know if I can get to this or not (work is picking up - tis the season) I'm also going to try and look at how well Windows 7 could be used for GSPs ( removing the cost of the OS over Linux of course).

I've been playing CoD:WaW with Win7 and have been impressed with it thus far. The only hitch I had was with Punkbuster....I had to use the PB manual updater after being kicked a few times. Once I did that, I have played without an issue.
I did, occasionally, get some "stutter" at the beginning of maps. I attributed this more to the Video drivers than the OS. I changed out the drivers to the newest ATI beta and the game is smooth and the IQ is brilliant!

good to hear HulaHal, my DX1 does not have 64 bit drivers so I'm stuck with a plain keyboard and mouse.....

Re: 64-bit drivers for the Ergodex DX1.

I ditched the DX1 awhile back when it became clear that Ergodex wasn't going to support 64-bit (and provides piss poor support generally) and have been using CH Products version of the DX1 (Multi Function Panel, purchased thru Amazon) which DOES support 64-bit directly.

Thanks batman, I grabbed those drivers the other day but have yet to give them a shot.
I love my DX1 however like you said, their support SUCKS big time. I remember seeing the CH version back a bit but forgot all about it.
Does Ergodex OEM for CH? Has anyone tried their drivers on the DX1? Very interesting as it looks identical.

CH markets product supplied to them by Ergodex. CH develops their own software solution and it works great on 64-bit platforms. Unfortunately the CH software is not compatible with the DX1. Definately doesn't work. A bummer as I was in the same boat as you, a DX1 and wanting to move to Vista 64-bit. Having a bit too much disaposible income at the time I put the DX1 on the shelf and bought CH. Glad I did.
