I have been attempting to set up dedicated test server from my house on a secondary machine. The purpose is to have a testbed for config changes that is accessible to a few members and a tutorial for me if and when we go with a dedicated box vs. hosted servers. There are a number of great guides out there to help in setting up a dedicated home server - special thanks to contributions by the Mechanic, TNTBlowout, and Acid Rain for tips that got me this far.

The server is running and accessible on my Lan and functions properly, but I am unable to locate the server via the in-game server browser or connect via the /connect console command.

The host box is running on a static internal IP address, the ports are forwarded on my router, and the application is allowed through my software firewall.

I am also able to connect via RconMax(WW) to the external IP address and establish a PBucon session, which leads me to believe it is visible externally.

The specific IP was added to my favorites and the server shows as dedicated, but no details display and the ping is listed as "--" when I look at the in-game Internet server browser.

Critical codes elements are as follows:

Command line:
C:\COD5Server\CoDWaWmp.exe +set dedicated 2 +set net_port 28960 +set sv_maxclients 8 +set sv_punkbuster 1 +exec server.cfg +map_rotate

Net IP removed per this suggestion (http://www.fpsadmin.com/forum/showthread.php?p=68027#post68027) from Acid Rain.

set sv_maxRate "6000"
1 Mb upload speed from my ISP.

Any thoughts? I would be happy to post screen shots as well.

You didn't mention what ports.

Check your router settings. As far as I am aware this game uses the same ports as COD 4, so you will need.

UDP 28960
UDP 20800
UDP 20810

If the server browser is anything like the COD4 one, then it can be hit or miss whether it turns up in the list, and it can take sometime.

Strangely, I moved the server host back to my primary machine - the machine used for gaming - and it works. The exact same configuration.

I am able to connect and play via LAN and Internet to server hosted on the same machine.
