Some how I lost my ability to play single player. Could play yesterday alright, then today when launching sp the game doesn't recognize the dvd. I didn't do anything to my pc other than starting it up to play.

I un-installed the game. I can't find out where to un-install the patch.

I re-installed the game but it shows the stock version. So now I'm thinking, I need to install the patch. I tried to install the patch but it detected that its already installed and asks me "you need to un-install this patch"... so I answer yes and it seems to have un-installed it. I re-run the patch and it says it is already installed again. bullocks!

So now I don't know how to un-install this patch... completely. I doesn't show up in my control panel as an installed program.

I am running Vista system and I pretty familiar with the file locations (now, lol) and it seems everything is removed when I un-install the game.

Any help would be most appreciated. ATM I'm dead in the water.

Thanks.

I had the same problem after the game worked fine for two weeks. Drove me insane as there was no uninstaller for the patch.

I wish I could tell you what the fix was, I tried so many things to get it to work, I can't say what it was that finally fixed it. After a reinstall thou I think the issue was from keeping my player folder intact as I checked the registry and everything for Waw was gone after I uninstalled.

Try deleting your username/Appdata/local/Activision folder, and uninstall- reinstall- patch again. You can save your player profile folder and reuse it to save your rank, and saves. Just launch the game first and it will dl your profiles and recreate that Activision folder. Then you can replace the player folder with the saved one.

It is a really weird bug, and I had to run the MP .exe as admin for a few days or it would still say I was not patched. No it runs fine without admin priv.

Yeah that is about the pain I've experienced.

I don't know if it is the game or vista... sounds like the game.

If you want to wipe the game from vista, then first uninstall, then delete manually these directories:

c:\users\{username}\documents\activision
enable hidden files and folder viewing
C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Local\Activision
c:\program files\activision

Registry keys don't matter. If you want a clean slate, that is how you would do it. No saved games or anything will be left over.

I had the same problem where SP hosed itself in vista. In fact I could never get it to run, period. I dropped the game on XP from the same (network) install and it worked beautifully.

I wiped all cod from my machine and still could not install with out the patch saying that it was already installed.

I had to "wipe" it all clean again. Regedit looking for "1.1", "1.1 patch", "waw", and "activision".

Needless to say I was reaching for anything.

The patch's uninstaller is worthless.

After doing all this I finally got sp and mp and the patch all in...GAME ON!

Delete files/folders at following locations:

Gamefolder (e.g. C:\Program Files\Activision\CODWAW)
Addition app data (Backup your mpdata and .cfg file within the players folder!) at C:\Documents and Settings\<Username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Activision\CODWaW
Go to Startmenu -> Run and type "regedit" and hit OK. Within the registry go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Activision\ and look for any CODWaW folder and delete it.

That's it!:D
