I have problems with loading map in Multiplayer. I cant connect to first round. I must wait for map load for 1 minute.
My configuration:
C2D E8400 @ 3.0GHz
2GB kingmax ddr2 @800 MHz
HD 3870 ultimate
160 GB Seagate baracuda
650W chifteck psu
Windows vista ultimate x86 SP1 (I have same problems with Xp)

If that hard drive is a Seagate 7200.7 version (or any version prior to a 7200.10 (7200.11 is the latest and very, very fast)) then a new hard drive will get you in the game in time. The maps are more detailed meaning the file sizes are larger causing the longer load times. I lengthened the start timer on our server to help allow more players get loaded in time for the first map.

Which config is that MagicMann? I may try the same thing on our server to allow everyone to start at the same time.

Guys in my clan with 2gb of ram are getting long loading times, while those with 4gb of ram seem to be the first in...:(
so i'd advise you to get some more ram, and ensure there matched pairs (to enable dual channel).

set scr_game_graceperiod "55" //pause time (in seconds) at start of each map for players to join
Of course, I have some players with really fast systems asking if I can shorten the time. However, I prefer most players have a chance to load the map and join the first round (especially in round based gametypes such as S&D). Asking someone to wait 10-15 seconds is a small price to pay, I think.

I'm running on a opty 185 and 2 Gig mem, i'm in the server mostly as 2nd or third, and a clanmember with also a opty 185 same mobo only other brand dimms but 2 gig is much slower and always complaining about the slow loading.
so it being the 2 gig mem, neh think its some other.
we where already thinking on ati cards and/or drivers for the gfx, the slow loaders @ us have ati videocards

I've installed cod:ww on both my vista and xp partition and it definatety loads quicker in xp. My system is core2duo 6750 @ 3.0gh, 2gb ram and 8800gt. I think the amount of ram is the difference in loading times. Xp uses less so 2gb is plenty. The game runs sweetly in xp and vista for me with no performance difference under either operating system except the slightly longer loading times in vista which i attribute to ram. I'm no expert but that would be my guess. I have found a server i like playing that counts down the start of the map to give everyone a chance to load before the map plays like it did in cod4 as someone posted earlier. Anyone else got any other observations?
By the way, i'm with rudedog when he says he thinks this is the best cod to date. We've been enjoying the multi player solidly since its release and four of our clan gave the co-op a go the other night and it was an absolute blast. We had a really enjoyable evening so if you haven't tried co-op yet give it a go. I hope infinity ward include co-op in their next release.
Nick.

Anyone hear of fixes for the slow map loads yet? A few of our guys are still having this problem. They have decent hardware with 2GB of RAM but I know at least 2 of them run Nvidia AGP cards, with the latest drivers (and no newer AGP drivers are likely at this point). They've tried turning off AV...no diff. Anyone with older vid cards tried the Omega drivers?
TIA,
M

I ran 2GB until last night. I was always 2nd or 3rd in line. Hard drive I/O matters alot on map loads, but some software bugs might slow it down.

I've been run'n 1.5GB since before COD4....never a problem with that or WW regarding load times or performance. But I do have SLI 7800GT cards so maybe that makes up for it.

Only in video performance. It won't make a difference in map or game loads.

Hey guys i have the same problem map load times roughly 30-40 seconds no matter what settings are on being LOW or HIGH always the same load times.
Tried different RAM at different speed, new cpu, new hdd.
I'm pointing my finger toward amd/ati on this atm, other games just fine CoD:WW slow map loads.
Something to do with the Graphics Drivers. System Specs below!
MSI 975X Platinum PowerUp Edition
Intel Core2 Quad Q6600 2.4Ghz
Kingston 2GB DDR2 (800Mhz) Dual-Channel
ATi Radeon HD4870 1GB
Creative Audigy2 ZS
WD Raptor S-ATA 10,000rpm 16MB Cache HDD

Yeah your hard drive I/O is fine and everything else is up to snuff as well. It's got to be a software issue.
I'm running windows 7 beta and windows 2008 in VMs, a remote desktop to my fileserver and gameserver and firefox. I thought what the hell and loaded the game up. I went to my dedicated test server and loaded the map in seconds.
I have no idea. Have yall tried loading new vid drivers?

There would appear not to be a single answer. As such it might be one of balance. Most of us gamers will put the best G/Card we can afford in to our PC's. The issue might be that the game increases the detail and settings to match your card.
As the settings increase, that is more data to transfer in to memory. Once the game is loaded than it's fine because the settings of the game have been chosen to match your card. The issue is getting the information to the memory.
With memory more is always better, it's been that way since I had my IBM XT. We all look at head line grabbing figures like CPU speed and amount of RAM and model of G/Card. There is more to it than that we often don't look at boring things like transfer rates and hard drives.
The other thing is how you have your system set up. Not just the version of Windows your running but they way you have them configured.
So I don't think that there is a single answer. If your getting pissed off with joining last then you could try to drop your settings. That will reduce the amount of data and should speed things up. If you are running Vista you could try fitting a fast 4Gb USB stick, and make use of Vista's ReadyBoost/SuperFetch Thingie. Move your swapfile to a second drive. At least defrag the swapfile and the rest of the drive. Clean the registry with CCleaner. There are so many little things that can be done to get the most out of your system. There are tonnes of websites devoted to tweaking your system.
On the other hand I'm often in the server first or second, great you might think. Not always, I spawn. Then all of these people spawn in front of me! One second I have a clear run to the objective, the next second I'm in the middle of a crowd with all of the people with slower PC's blocking me. Grrrrrr.... People that have only just arrived and are not ready to run!
Be careful what you wish for!
