But not as good as CoD4.... well they did get CoD 4 numbers wrong in the article.Doug Creutz with Cowen and Company forecast in a Wednesday research note that World at War will sell 5.5 million units during its lifetime in the U.S., a "32.4 percent year-on-year decline" from CoD4.
However Creutz added, "Given the strong ratings and demand indicators, we think World at War could deliver meaningful upside to our current estimates."
During 2007, CoD4 sold over 7 million units on a worldwide basis. [Rudedog: Didn't Activision state they sold over 10 million units?]
Treyarch-developed World at War is earning a very strong 88 percent rating on Metacritic. Also, Activision recently said that pre-orders for World at War were up over Infinity Ward-developed CoD4. However you have to remember that CoD4 followed CoD2 with all it's problems and there was no MP bet... I mean demo before it hit the store shevles.
They also go on to say that so far Treyarch's CoDWW is averaging an 88% rating on Metacritic as well as being tied for the #1 spot for holiday season purchases.
Not bad when you think about how the economy is right now. No, video games are not immune to this as everyone would like you to believe. There are record numbers of layoffs and hiring freezes in the video game industry right now. So with numbers projected above, I would say Treyarch and Activision should be very proud of what they accomplished.
- Well done Treyarch, you deserve it! :salute:
