Hey guys,
I have a Dell 1550 P3 512 RAM 1gig Processor Server in our data center that I have been running CoD and CoD4 on with no problems.
I have been installing dedicated games on servers for years and this one has me puzzled.
I installed the retail version on the server, patched to 1.1, updated the dll files and they are there in system 32. Put my server.cfg file in the main folder. Used the CoDWaWmp.exe with the command line:
"C:\Call of Duty - World at War\CoDWaWmp.exe" +set dedicated 2 +set net_ip 66.162.25.106 +set net_port 28980 +exec server.cfg +map_rotate
Even made sure the files installed correctly by comparing the files sizes to my personal computer install.
When I try to start it I get a 3 second hour glass and then nothing. Nothing in the event log either to go by.

I then ftp'd this same setup to my dev box that has xp home on it and a dedicated IP and it runs perfectly. (Of course I changed the command line to reflect the new IP on the dev box)

Can't figure this one out. I thought I would at least get a console window to open before it crapped out lol.

Anyone have any ideas?

You may not have enough RAM. Does it write anything to console_mp.log?

No it does not. Does not run long enough to make one.

The case says it will run on 512 ram... but it also says minimum processor P4.
Perhaps CoDWaWmp.exe checks for this on startup?

ok, i been reading around, and this is just a shot in the dark.

try putting d3dx9_37.dll and d3dx10_37.dll in your server directory, right next to the server.exe.

This may help you all!

Anyone who tries to run COD WAW with an older cpu mainly an Athlon XP or Sempron will have a problem launching the game.

It will not run because any cpu below the listed minimum requirement of an Athlon 64 3200+ have not been supported within the game.

This was a response from Activision Support and I cannot provide a link to the info.

However if you are able too, run the first check on this list (http://www.fpsadmin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=16108) on your servers it should give you some insight as to where the problem lies ;)

Did not work for me, either. Thanks for trying!

Thanks U-z-i Kidding,
I guess a P3 must be included on that list.

Can't afford to buy a server for this. Anyone know how to fool 2003 into thinking it has a different cpu installed? If cod4 runs on it cod5 should.
