It's not often you see a Communications Director lose the plot so enjoy this fine example of what is surely going to stir up some controversy.
Maybe it's because Treyarch has toppled Infinity Ward with a score of 10/10 for CoD:WW
Noah Heller - Stop Doing Interviews…
Seriously man…. You’re killing me!
If I see one more Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare google alert come through my inbox, that ends up being a COD:WaW article that is only showing up because YOU referenced Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare more times than you mention World At War….
Especially when you’re pulling shit out of your ass. Come on man, interview about your game. Not OURS! Call of Duty: World at War can stand on it’s own merits, leave ours out of it. Like this gem of a quote from today’s article on CVG…
“In the previous Call of Dutys it might take three or four shots from a bolt action rifle,” he explained. “We made sure that a single shot centre mass would kill that opponent because that’s the expectation of the player.”
WTF are you talking about?! “in previous Call of Dutys blah blah blah”. First of all, you didn’t work on “previous Call of Dutys”, so don’t talk as if you’re down with how / why things were designed the way they were. Second, you’re completely ****ing wrong.
Bolt Action rifles are one hit kills in every Call of Duty we (Infinity Ward) made!!
I won’t compare it to World at War’s Bolt Actions, I can’t speak to that because I don’t work there. Just like you don’t work here, so please stop talking about our games.
A rule of thumb I like to use is…. when promoting your game. Promote YOUR game. Don’t compare it to another game, or reference what OTHER games did in the past, pitch YOUR game. I mean, you have lots of cool things you could talk about… like Nazi Zombies….
Can you guys please stop interviewing this guy, talk to someone who actually works on the Dev Team at Treyarch and knows what the **** they’re talking about. Not Senior Super Douche Noah Heller from Activision - who apparently has never played the game and doesn’t even work at the developer.
Alright, I’m done ranting… but I can’t take another google alert of garbage coming through my inbox with bullshit quotes from this guy.

Just in case things go the "disappearing act" route.
Personally, I knew it would only be a matter f time before Robert 402 Bowling would show his ire.
Or, Could it be both he and a few of the Corporate Whig's ire within Activision who are at odds with the tone of the interviews are fed up and Bowling is their attack dog?
(This is the actual posting at Robert "402" Bowling's Blog.........)

Ya know, at first I was going to remain neutral.... but I've been thinking....
After having read the above and now, with the discovery of multi-national, multi-platform Pirated versions of the program (http://forums.raidersmerciless.com/showthread.php?p=43759#post43759) only days before its formal release, I am beginning to ponder whether something far more sinister is going on.
I get that nagging feeling that there might be more than friendly competition... between those at IW and those at Treyarch. Perhaps in Activision too..... and all this tumult is possibly about and/or from that?
Very strange that cracked copies of the multi-platform versions of Call of Duty:World at War hit at relatively the same time 402 blows a fuse. Very strange indeed.
Coincidence?? Maybe - I think ...perhaps not.
Somebody sure appears to be trying to torpedo CoD:WW.
It won't work.... the more controversy raised, the greater consumer curiosity becomes = more sales.
The YOLK's on you 40boo-hoo.

What a tool.
Who wouldn't compare a GAME SERIES to it's previous games?
I think Infinity Ward may be a little upset that Activision is letting Treyarch have a piece of the pie.

I dont blame the guy for blowing a fuse....
Did IW compare CoD4 with CoD3 at any stage? No they didnt.
The CoD fanchise belongs to IW...they created the original and MoHAA before that. Maybe Noah Heller should pay a little more respect to IW because if it wasnt for IW's line of CoD games Treyarch wouldnt stand a chance with there past track record.
W@W is pants
CoD3 is pants
Quantum of solace is pants
I hope the rumours of the CoD franchise being soley developed by IW after w@w is true cause i cant take another failure in the cod franchise.
Looking forward to the real cod5 in 2010 :salute:
Edit: Also may i ask where w@w received a 10/10 lol

Call of Duty: World at War received its first 10/10 review score in the latest issue of PSW magazine.
"Modern Warfare was pretty much the best game on PS3 for the last year," PSW said, adding: "So to hold the position that it's sequel, World At War, is a better game, is surely to stir up some controversy. That's right, Treyarch has toppled Infinity Ward."

First I want to say hi to Mike and U-Z-I, been awhile since I've been by your forum.
Interesting to have this conversation about who is the best before the retail version is out. I was not much impressed by the beta overall, but do realize it is a sad ported version. I do have a beta server up and the hackers are having a field day.
I would not put it past 402 to do anything. He is a sad attempt to rectify any of IW's past problems with public perception and would do anything to make himself think he is in control and right about something. Of course if he did leak the retail game it is bugged and not complete and most are having problems getting it to run as far as I could tell yesterday.
My personal opinion is IW and Treyarch should not be speaking at all to each other on lower levels. By now all conversation should be promoting the game and addressing any REAL issues and fixes. Any negative comments by the companies selling or distributing the game is immature, harmful to the Call of Duty franchise as a whole and they both should be reprimanded.

Hiya Holback it's good to see you :)
Today's interview with Noah Heller on Gamasutra! I haven't read the full article yet so am unsure if Heller responds to Fourzerotwo's attack on him.
Treyarch's Heller: Call Of Duty: World At War Benefited From Internal CoD Competition
Talking to Gamasutra as part of an in-depth new interview, Treyarch senior producer Noah Heller has been discussing working with Infinity Ward to make Call Of Duty: World At War, suggesting that it's "gratifying" to compete internally to make the best game in the series -- noting that "we both win if we make a great product."
According to Heller, the two Activision-owned studios traded builds while developing their respective Call of Duty titles and reviewed each other's work, as was the case with Call of Duty: World at War and its predecessor Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
"The engine is an Activision platform, something that we can all use," he says. "From a design perspective we don't want to step on each other's creativity, and the Treyarch team has its own insular design force."
Heller adds, "It's awesome that we're able to trade and we're able to do a Call of Duty game this year. They were able to do one last year, because on Call of Duty 3, it was nine months in the pipeline to get that game done, and no team should ever have to work like that.
He believes that Activision's current system for the Call of Duty series is "really healthy," as it allows the studios two years to work on their projects.
Heller also noted that there is internal competition between Treyarch and Infinity Ward, especially because their releases are often compared to each other.
"It's tough, but at the end of the day, we're all Activision," he says. "A great Call of Duty game just opens up opportunities to do other great things with Call of Duty."
He continues, "Frankly, it's more gratifying to compete internally than it is against any other company, because at the end of the day, we both win if we make a great product."
Infinity Ward's director of communications/community manager Robert Bowling, however, recently lambasted Heller for repeatedly referencing Infinity Ward's Modern Warfare in interviews for World at War, suggesting that it was poor form to make comparisons to CoD4 in promoting CoD5.

Criticizing a "team mate" in public is not good form, but the competition is pretty real I imagine, not just from the good natured internal competition sense, but also that each team wants to get great assignments and grow. Just when speaking in public, it has to be carefully couched as either different (but equal) approaches or as a building of the franchise over time so it can be seen in a positive light.

there is no competition for who makes the best cod game
IW went through hell with EA games.... left ... made a version of the Q3 engine that blew everybodys mind away
Treyarch is driving someone elses car
dont get me wrong they have done great things and fixed things that most likely would not have gotten fixed ( http:/ redirect )
and did a really great job of talking to the community (iwnationforums)
make us a new Wolfenstein (=ID soft ? ) ... anyway ... make our eyes pop ... sounds like IW is done with WWII anyway... should be a easy market to grab
402 ... bad form dude
competition ???? am I wrong or was it not stated that this would be the last COD made by someone other then IW ????
maybe thats where the tension comes from
