We try to setup a COD5 Beta server over remote desktop.
Once installed the Beta version and launching the game I get; "The game can not be run over a remote desktop connection".
The server is running windows.
I have not succeeded using the search function here, and i wonder if you have related topics on the subject.
Also if you have suggestions on how to perform the above.
Or, if we have to wait for the final release of COD5 and then where to get a standalone COD5 server!?!
Hope to get som help on this subject.
Thanks in advance

You do not have to install the game on the server. You simpley cpoy your CoD:WW installation to it.
Then you don't run it as you do at home. You start it with a command line in your short cut.
C:\Games\codww_beta\CoDWaWbeta.exe +set dedicated 2 +set net_port 28960 +exec server.cfg +map_rotate

You'll also need a server.cfg file in your main folder
Here are some threads worth reading:

btw... you'll prolly need to uppload this file to your server as well http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?d3dx9_37

Thank you so much. This was VERY helpful.

Do I need any special specifications for the dedicated server? I can run COD4 dedicated server, but not COD5!!
I was running a COD4 dedicated server (with anything up to 4 servers at once). I have copied the COD5 files onto it and setup the server.cfg file, etc.
Each time I get "Call of Duty:World at War Multiplayer has encountered a problem and needs to close. The code in the error is 0xc000001d
The server isn't up to running the game, but I would have thought the server would be okay - especially if I am able to run the COD4 dedicated on it?!?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

COD5 does take a bit more as far as resources but I'd think if you can run a cod4 server that you can run a cod5 one as well. Review the above overview on how to set up a server to be sure you haven't missed something.
The client side of COD5 does take a bit more. A lot of my clan members who can play cod4 are having issues with cod5.

Well I have tried everything and still can't get the server to run. All the COD4 dedicated servers run fine. I have followed the instructions to the letter - I found it to be very similar to the way the COD4 server was setup.
the system is running XP pro SP2 has dual PIII 1.13 CPU's 3Gb of RAM and now has a 128Mb Radeon 9550 video card. But at the end of the day, it isn't to play the game, just host the server - and COD4 server runs perfectly.
The error is always the same 0xc000001d
Anyone have any ideas, or do I abandon the server altogether?

first question .. are you setting up a cod ww server .. or beta server ( as this is beta thread .. if so.. the beta is finished and no good anymore.
"The error is always the same 0xc000001d" ... that error is generally a hardware or patch issue i thought ( as in directx/windows sp/ etc)

Sorry didn't realize this was the beta thread - it is a waw 1.1 server
I think I will just look at replacing the server, obviously there is a hardware issue that isn't easily rectified...the server has had a good run.
thanks
