I thought it would be good to get peoples initial thoughts about the recently released Call of Duty: World At War Multi-player Beta for the PC.
I think its not bad and the maps are really well designed and good to play but the first thing that bugs me about the game is the mouse movement. When playing I feel as if I am using a joypad on a console which is, to be honest bloody annoying as trying to shot people is bad enough for me to do on the PC. Ive tried to adjust the mouse sensitivity but to no avail it doesnt make it any better. It just makes it feel like a console joypad but even faster!
I was talking to a fellow clan member and he feels the same, infact a few feel the same about it. Then he pointed out to me that the games doesnt have a particle physics engine to it as well. Which leads him to believe that the game has just been ported over from console to PC. Was this the reason for the long wait for PC version of the beta?
Other bad points which I hope are ironed out on the final release is the spawn points especially in the non-search and destory modes. A lot of spawning and dying with bad positioning when you spawn.
The tanks are far too over protected. They should have went for weak points at tanks back end instead of having to fire 6 rockets at and also with 10 packs of plastic explosives. Plus I think the map is just slightly too small (I wish they would stop making maps purely for console players).
Also there have been a few grumbles about the sound effects of the guns which to be honest arent anywhere near as good as CoD4.
If they fix the:
mouse movement ie to be the same as CoD4
fixed the spawn points
reduce the tanks armour at the backend of the tanks
Then it will be a good game but at the moment the mouse movement issue is really driving me nuts and putting me off buying the game. :(
