Hi, im Spuddy from =SR= clan and would like to spread some info about punkbuster and the punksbusted community(for those who dont know).
Most of u will know punkbuster from other online games such as Quake3, SOF2, ET, AA, RvS,... and u also probably know it is used to keep out cheaters, or catch them at least. The Punkbuster anti-cheat software is usually included in a patch of the specific game. Once installed, u can go on punkbuster enabled servers.
When u connect to a punkbuster server the very first time, u will get a GUID assigned based on ur CD key. A GUID is a 36 character ID and never changes unless u use another cd-key. This is your unique ID so u better not mess with it :twisted:. Messing around(basicaly cheating) will get u banned....is it? The anser is no and yes, but more no. Ill explain.
Punkbuster does not ban someone that is using a wallhack or an aimbot :o It only kicks the person for 2 minutes. An example of a console screenie in SoF2...

Punkbuster has no right banning a player unless that player messed with the pb code itself to avoid getting caught. That player will then face a "Global Punkbuster Ban", his/her GUID becommes useless and so his/her cd-key. So basicaly no one gets banned unless u did something against the Punkbuster terms and conditions.
This is where the Punksbusted community commes in. Punksbusted was formed late summer 2002 and its purpouse was to set up a community where players and specialy server admins can submit their cheats and collect these in one big MBL...The Master Ban List. Server admins can(and should!) use that banlist to keep out those evil ppl that ruin the game for everyone.
Punksbusted support all the games that have punkbuster software installed and is also a n1 resource for all your PB questions/problems. Take a peek www.punksbusted.com
To be able to submit cheats to the MBL u have to be a Punksbusted Admin-member. U can signup for that here http://punksbusted.com/memberapp/pb_members_view.php
They already added CoD to their support :smile: Of course everyone can post cheatlogs, pbcreens or demos on the forum, but only punksbusted admin-members can subit them for the MBL. The MBL is at this day supported by many gameserver companies (jolt.co.uk, clanwarz.net,...) and also clanbase uses the MBL for their ladders/cups. So if u own a clan or a gameserver, sign up! Together we can build up a safer gamingcommunity :|
