Both come with RDT and would be used for either COD:4 or COD;WaW probably at least (2) x 32 man

Intel Xeon 5405 2.0Ghz 12MB L2 Cache (Single Processor, Quad Core)
2GB RAM
500GB SATAII or 73GB SCSI (You may choose one or the other)
10Mbps Network Port Speed
3,500GB Tier 1 Bandwidth
Windows Server 2003 Web Edition

or

AMD Dual CPU Dual Core Opteron 275
2048MB RAM
250GB SATA or 73GB SCSI Hard Drive (Your Choice)
10Mbps Port
3000Gb Bandwidth

Feedback welcome! Any reasoning or links to chart comparisons would be helpful.

Thanks!

Either one should run a 2 - 32man server just fine and if all you are running is two servers, then I would go with the cheaper server.

SATA drive (and in your case larger capacity) is fine.

Things I would consider.

- 10Mps connection - it's always nice to have and not need then need and not have in regards to connection to the providers switch. If you can upgrade this by going with the less expensive server I would do that.

- Next make sure you're provider does a good job at answering service call and keeping you informed on what is going on. This in itself can make or brake the best server in the world if you are working remotely to it.

- Don't simply ping the server, do a tracert or traceroute. Have everyone in your clan traceroute the box to see if there is any problems "in house". Meaning make sure there is no wacky latency within the providers network. They can't do anything if you are having problems in the cloud but there should not be any issues within their own network. This will save you a lot of headache if they have their act together.

Good luck and please follow up with as many details you can spare, this info always helps others who are looking for this type of setup.

!0Mbps is more than enough unless your planning on running 3 or more full BF servers. Also don't upgrade the port right from the getgo as most usually give you the 100Mbps and call it a free upgrade upon setup. ;)

But if they don't plug you into a 100mbps port, it is definitely worth the upgrade, in my opinion.

Oh, and I can run TWO CoD4 servers on a AMD 3000+ server with 1GB memory just fine, so those machines will have no problems at all.

One last word of advice, whatever you do, do NOT leave the CoD server console maximized on the server. Make sure it minimizes upon launch.

You will also probably want to checkout some server tools like perhaps firedaemon.

Once you go dedicated, you will never want to go back to renting gameservers.

I have a server i been running from home for COD4 but you can never find it through the server list. Everyone can join through IP but for a pub server its not good.

Server spec is:
AMD 3200+ single core
Sata 80 gig
1 Gig memory
20 mbs Fiber Optic Connection

Should this be a good enough setup to run a server 32 slot x2 ?

I ask this because I also rent one just because my home one does not show up in the list. I am hopping it will be diferent with COD:WW

On a side not you don't know me and I don't know you but glad to see the Worm back and looking forward to pam5.. Thanks for everything you have done for the community..

Thanks! I 'usually' have a blast doing it.

And I can run two servers off of my dedicated box, with specs just a little lower than yours. A little more memory would be nice.

Truth be told, I don't think I have ever seen BOTH servers up to full capacity at once, but from the scaling it was doing it did not appear to be a problem. I was definitely going to run out of memory before CPU though.
