Demo Date ?

Hi guys,

Just wondered what date the pc demo is likely to be out. With the release date creeping up i thought the demo would be out by the beginnnig of October. Any best guesses ??

The only date we have is the Nov 11th release. We're in a holding pattern and will hopefully know shortly.

Could someone explain to me what the deal is on the beta tokens?

I pre-ordered the pc version, does this mean I will get a beta token for sure?

A friend of mine wants to wait to play the beta before buying the game, how does he go about getting a pc beta when it's released?

I am thinking the PC beta will be out this Friday because of the wording JD used about it being the "PC's turn next" and for us to watch our email closely. That sounds a lot like the hype all last week that led up to the 360 Beta, so if they follow the same pattern. I am guessing that he would not say to watch our email "closely" if they didn't intend on sending something for half a month.

But as with all things CoD, it's just a guess.

As for keys and such for the PC beta. Any news coming out of Treyarch is so heavily drenched in console information that no one really knows for sure if there are going to be PC Beta keys or not... If it is, this is the FIRST time a CoD PC title will have a closed public beta.

I doubt they'll say anything too soon as the longer they hold out the more people will pre-order just to get their hands on the beta early.

We've been focusing on this 360 BETA right now. Look, my logic is simple; there are more CoD gamers on the 360 than on the PC. That's not opinion, it's fact. As entertainers, we want to entertain as MANY people as we possibly can. So the 360 came first, you're absolutely right.

Does this mean we don't care about the PC? Hell no! I am a PC gamer, and always will be. So is our Associate Producer, Multiplayer Design Director, PC Director, and the entire team of engineers on the PC team. Now that the 360 BETA is out and in the wild, we'll have a little more time tweaking some things and ironing out the wrinkles. But you can bet that the bulk of the news coming out from now on will be about the PC BETA. Now it's your turn.

When is the PC BETA you ask?

So what was my M.O. with the 360 guys? You were all spectators, you should know what's coming already... The PC BETA will be released.... come on, all together now... SOON! =)

You have no idea what we've got in store for the PC folks. a month from now let's revisit this topic so I can do my round of "I told you so's" . Don't say we've shunned the PC community until you've seen what we've done for it.

I can say this, and call me a tease if you want, but when you see what we're doing in the way of mapping, modding, new PC features, servers, and general PC support, then you can go ahead and pass judgment on how we've treated the PC fans. But just because we do not have any news to tell just yet doesn't mean we hate PC gamers or put them on the back burner. It means we simply don't have anything to tell just yet.

Patience is a virtue.... Someone really wise and cool said that once, I'm sure. Obviously that's not me, but at least I can rip his sh*t off =P.

Oh, and @Diii, yes I come in tomorrow too - I won't stop until all the VIP's have their codes (except for this brief power nap between the hours of 4 and 10).

i think tokens are for people who pre ordered the console version (xbox) only.

Either way, I cannot figure out their logic. I mean, what better way to get someone to buy your product, let them try it out first. Why would they limit that to only those that have already pre-ordered?

And they will open the beta up to the general public, but what better way to sell a product then to offer a sneak peak before anyone else?

I was thinking it might be a piracy counter-measure as well.

Even though you don't HAVE to order something you have on pre-order, they may be of the idea that if someone pre-orders then there is a much higher likelihood that they will complete the transaction (assuming they didn't pay the whole purchase price when they pre-ordered).

The thinly disguised UAVs (spotter planes - that can apparently see through roofs......at night!!) are giving me a really bad feeling about this one. Although the Dogs could be interesting... Is this an assignable class I ask myself? Will I be able to urinate on the oppositions spawn?

Yeah, you must be a VIP at callofduty.com, they were included in the 360 beta regardless of if you pre-ordered or even HAVE a 360 for that matter.

kinsman, same thing happened to me, however about 4 months later I was able to finally complete the avatar thingy but now cant see the forums even though I'm logged in.

Have you tried to delete your cookies for callofduty.com?

I did and still cant get in. I'm waiting on support to get back to me.

just wanted you to know, that i got the exact same mail as Destert Eagle and i'm not a VIP at callofduty.com - i just registered myself about 2 month ago to be able to read some threads about cod5, never posted anything at the forums though..

i guess beta invites are kinda given randomly..

last time i checked(1min ago) for a pc-beta invitational mail, my inbox was empty - dont know if there is anything to be expected today.. as soon ill get an invite, ill let u know :)
