I am runing a modded server, sort of. I dont have a mod.ff or anything. I just have mods/llc/server.cfg

CoD4 is the finickiest thing to admin, I haven't had problems like this in my 10 years as an admin. Redirect works and then it doesn't work. I want to use only maps that do not require an IWD in the mods/llc folder. Maps should be in the usermaps folder entirely so people dont have to download a bunch of crap just to join...right??!!

My redirect is set up correctly and worked this afternoon. I change nothing and join this evening and it goes into the dreaded download looping of maps I already have. mp_ctan for instance. What gives? Is there a thread that gives a conclusive fix to this or is there a list of maps that are known to work with redirect out of ONLY the usermaps folder??

Any help you guys could give would be appreciated.

Here are main reasons for looping:
1. You have different files on your server versus your redirect.
2. The iwd file for the custom map in not clean. Anything other than image files need to be removed.
3. You have a problem with your config - usually a typo.

does anyone maintain a list of "clean" and recommended cod4 maps?

I have recently had a similar problem. Wednesday night me and three friends played 4 custom maps. They downloaded fine from the redirect and we played them for a couple of hours. Friday night when the custom maps tried to load each of our computers would try to download the iwd files and loop endlessly. These files played fine 2 nights prior and nothing changed on the server. Our computers already had these maps from 2 nights ago so it should not have even tried to download them again. I double checked that they were clean and the files on the redirect and server matched exactly.

Very annoying......
