good size of maxrate

hi guys,
i'm ask me, what is the best maxrate? So i can calculate how much clients i can have, with a good ping.

and its a fast pc better for perfomance? My is a AMD 1,8Ghz, 768mb ddr ram, 40gb HD, Internet:Cable, Downstream 2000kb/s upstream 400kb/s

now i have 8 slots and they have all a ping between 100 and 200, what can i do?

He is asking, as am I, what is the "best rate" that server admins are using. I just created a new post requesting the same info.

I saw "how" to compute it. The question is : What is the best
value before?

For example: If I have in the sample, a maxrate of 2100 for 16 users, he computes 268Kbs. So if he has 268Kbs, can he run 32 users at 1050?

If maxrate is set to 1050, that would be 1050 * 8 * 32 users = 268Kbs. But what is the performance going to be with a maxrate of 1050?? Or can I run a 50 user server with max_rate of 672 with the same 268Kbs? I don't think so...

Another way to ask... What is the lowest Max_rate that gives your players a good gaming response assuming they have good bandwidth themselves? I am trying to determine how many people I can support, I have 5Mbs down/ 1Mbs up.

It is possibel to play Cod with Dialup ISDN.
And that should be something like 5000 in rate.

So i would not go under 5000 in rate.
I use 7000 in rate on my server.
I can have the rate higher if i want to becase i have 2300 upload / 2300 download on my connection at the same time.
