The server we use has now been configured to use custom maps and now people need to d/l those maps. Its easiest if they don't have to go to an external website to download their maps. Right now most everyone downloading the maps is only downloading at somewhere around 5kB a sec.

I saw this link in the sample config thread:
http://www.codadmin.com/nuke/modules.php?name=Content&pa=showpage&pid=7

The "sv_maxrate" variable says to see another figure for calculation of this value. I'm assuming this variable is set in bits. Right now the default setting on the server is 10000. I want to bump this up but I'm not sure how high it can be increased.

Anyone else know where to find this info or how to calculate the value so that we can get some faster downloads so that people don't have to sit there for too long to d/l maps? Thanks.

the max rate caps out at 25000

but if you lease a server then you had better make sure its ok with the" provider" dont you " will be cut off ' if you exceed the rate they set for your server

but also if you run it that high then you will see your pings rise
and any one with a bad connection simply wont last long

i always list the maps for them too d/l elsewhere
maybe one day they will fix it too redirect the people too a ftp too get them
that way it takes the load off the server you play on

Besides, the download is capped at 4kb/s no matter what. It is hard coded into the game engine.

7kb/s is the capped download rate.

I've seen several different rates for autodownload never over 7 or 10k

I guess it determines your connection then looks at the number of clients and sets it accordingly.

I wish they had a redirect cvar that went along with autodownloads as well as a message system to inform clients on what to do or what they are missing.

I regularly d/l maps at 12/13kbps. but my server only d/l at 10kbps.
