I must say im impressed.. We got our serverup around 7pm last night and in about 20 minutes it had 60 people in it and ran redicuously smooth.. And then about 5 Infinity Ward guys came on, and on even came on our TS, and even helped us out a little bit with a couple issues. I must say the support and interest from them with working with the community is outstanding.

With 50+ people in it, some maps didnt have enough spawn points, I asked if that could be fixed and they said it would be easy to mod because of the way the spawning is scripted and offered help on doing so. They said they never played with more than 20 people or so at a time and had no idea that it would support 64 players(a consistant 50+ players) and seemed interesting in working out the spawn issues. It would be nice if they will do this when they make a patch. I feel confident that they will :).

With 50+ people on it, our server was running at 20% cpu(dual 2.8xeon), and using from 3 to 4 mbits/second of bandwithd. Our BT server when it had 36 people on it was using 25+% cpu and about the same bandwitdth.

This game is unbeleivably smooth, even with so many people on it and its not anywhere near taxing our server.

We did run into a couple of bugs though, there is a glitch with the client0 spot, we kept having named being repeated who were in the client 0, and I put 1 private slot so clientspot 0 will not be used, and it got rid of the repeated names. however they said this may be caused by the server being set up by so many people.

Had some problems with the map roation, but they quickly helped us out with that.

All in all i must say what a great game and great developers and support they are providing. When we complimented them on this, they said they always wanted to do this with MOHAA but couldnt. I didnt ask why, but we all know its cuz ea ;).

It's nice to see the developers on some of the forums. Just have not seen any of them here

Activision's site states any server over 32 players will experience you will experience instances of telefragging (causing them to have to respawn).

Did you guys see any of that?

Terribly sorry Inherent, I didn't see you. had my own little issues with a cfg file for about two hours. Let's just say when you rush something you forget to add a + before exec

I must say, IW you guys rock. Your out in droves covering all the boards.

well done!

Wow, cool story, CFH666.

I was just discussing with a friend earlier today what a cool thing it must be working at IW. You spend a year developing a game and then when you're done you go out and enjoy it with the rest of us.

The 'netcode is from one of the best multiplayer games out there: RTCW. (and not the abomination called "Enemy Territory"), but the original RTCW 1.4 code.

Hats of to Infinity Ward for keeping this pure and working great. Having played, and run servers for MOHAA, CounterStrike, BF1942, and RTCW, I still have to say the RTCW multiplayer engine is a delight to work with (and still play quite often..!)

I wasnt on our server at the time of this, but was tlaking to a member on ts, and he said that one of the IW devs was sort of telling him how to mod the spawn points. They said it is possible to add more by editing some scripts so we'll see what happens.

Im definately liking the support from IW.
